I've been visiting this site on occasion and maasha-Allah have learnt so much from brothers and sisters that wander the various corners of the city. Joined some time ago, but no time ::) to do the formal intro till now. Not much of a [] drinker,  :-/ but I'll make an exception  []

I'm from South Africa, a student, traveller and a nature lover  :D yes all things in the sky, sea and soil interest me. And how could they not when they attest to their Perfect Maker.  :-*

I look forward to being a more active member of the city Insha-Allah  ;D.

Your sister
Ankabut  :-)

Shukran for the welcome  :). Well to answer your q bout SA. It is a wonderful country, we are about 1 million muslims of a diverse background. SE Asian, Indian and even Arab, plus a healthy dose of local blood. Generally a close community and alhamdulillah many mosques, muslim schools and community activities happening. Challenges are just as big though as I imagine them to be for muslims living within western environment. The situation politically is better since abolition of apartheid but lots of work still to be done.

I'll have that  [] now. Someone should get some other beverages in here - we don't want a monopoly developing  ;).

Sis Shahieda you're fellow South African I gather  :). I studied natural sciences at university. I am now at a madrassah where am studying Arabic and Islamic Studies which I am enjoying tremendously Alhamdulillah. I look forward to getting to know more about the issues / hopes / dilemmas ::) etc.  ;D of madinites and to learn Inshaa'Allah. I am based in Cape Town.

As to local varieties of drinks, am quite addicted to Oros  :) so maybe that could work  :-[

Welcome to the board.I am also a new member-and I am already hooked! It's great to know that there are fellow South Africans joining up.How are your studies going ?I also completed my Islamic studies here in a madrassa in Durban. Now how can you stand Oros :o It taste's soooo artificial. How about Liqui Fruit or Ceres?Much tastier! ;) ;)Shahida I must confess that although I dont drink Coke I find all these new brands [Bubbly,Squeeza,Twizza etc. etc.] too syrupy and unappetizing.Am I being too fussy? :-/ [wlm] :) :) :-)

[wlm] Zahrah, really good meeting SA's here. MY studies are well alhamdulillah, we are concentrating on Arabic this year and we are progressing. We are all excited to start hadeeth, fiqh and seerah next year Inshaa-Allah.

Oros is actually not my favourite drink  ;D, but thought it might be known by most madinites  ;). Much prefer the other juices too, but freshly squeezed orange juice is pretty unbeatable. Re: the fizzy cooldrinks -  ::) those colours make me think of nuclear waste  :D - so I agree with you they're not too good. Let's stick to the only option available then  []. Have one ...  []
