| [slm] All, I am a new addition to this site's members. Actually, I joined about a week ago, but didnt know about the 'Bebsi Corner' tradition of intros. I am from California, USA(Norhtern Cali for those nosy desi here who want to prod a little further :-/ ) I was introduced to this website by my sister. I am a frequent/occasional visitor. I like reading about different issues posted here. So far, I only have one suggestion: Please do something about the pop-up window that pops open each time a person clicks on a link. The first time is fine, but it gets in the way if it pops up each time we check out a section of the site. Well, anyway, its good being here, and I seem to enjoy the company as well. | welcome bro.. what pop up window/? are you talking about the Quran words?? if you click on CLOSE it should keep the window off for the entire day until tomorrow when the word should change to a different one... (don't click ok the X b/c it will keep coming back) |

I'm a southerner, a southern californian, that is. ;) About 2 years ago, there was a nice chinese halal restaurant I went to near Milpitas, I think there was a 99 ranch market next to it. And there was a really good Pakistani restaurant I went to in San Francisco, it was packed at 11pm at night. I can't remember the name, maybe it was called Pakwan? ??? |

I went there in April and it was pretty cool! The atmosphere was really cool and it seemed authentic, but seeing how i've never been to morocco or had moroccan food, i'm prolly not the best judge! :D It was cool b/c we got to sit on the floor and they had THE BEST green looking tea at the end! I don't know what kind it was, maybe spearmint?? Does anyone know what tea this could be? I downed the whole thing in about 2 seconds. The neatest thing was that it was recommended to us by our shuttle driver from the airport, who happened to be muslim! :-* oh, yea, welcome to the board mustafa's_baba ;D I think you'll enjoy it here! | [slm] y'all The awesome world renowned Pakistani restaurant that you guys are talking about is none other then SHALIMAR. Its not Pakwan. Pakwan is kitty corner from Shalimar, and is trying to pickup the leftover crowd as Shalimar is not that big. Its food is simply the best. I had my Lahori cousins come in and eat there, and even they were in awe of the great food. Simply the best. A trip to SF is never complete without going to Shalimar. Its near the Union Square. They opened a new Shalimar around the corner of the OG Shalimar so that families can go and have a 'dine-in' experience as well. But the atmosphere of almost like being in Pakistan is not replicated in the second location ;D My recommendations: Chiken tikkah, Seekh Kababs, Beef Jalfraizy, Lamb chops, and for the daring: Maghaz! Supremo ;). Pakwan is also good, but Im a Shalimar loyalist. There are 3 Pakwans in bay area, and (Baji) what you are talking about is the brunch at the Hayward location. That brunch is really good too. The morrocan restaurant is next to the Family Shalimar location. never been to it but always wanted to go. But then again, one can only eat once at a time, and when Shalimar is around, there really isnt a choice left! As for the Halal Chinese Mr. Bhaloo :P , There are atleast 4 in East/south Bay that I know of. The one in milpitas is Darda, and a regular lunch get together for myself and my college buddies ;D Good food. SO thats my coverage of good Muslim eats in the Bay! Tomorrow, we shall discuss the cheapest Muslim owned gas stations ;) |

Our uncle took us there last summer and after that interesting experience i decided to become a vegetarian atleast for a month :) |
