assalaamu`alaikum this is beautiful, from http://www.geocities.com/fearallaah/ Prayer is: an act of worship to test our obedience to keep us punctual-a form of discipline and order to be ever conscious of God (Allah) * the very first thing Muslims will be accounted for on Judgment Day something if it's deficient then ALL of a person's deeds can be deficient a time to throw the dunya (world) behind (when we say takbeer) a time to relieve ourselves of the burdens of this world an escape from this world 5 times a day to restore a personal contract with Allah (surah Fatiha) the ultimate submission to God (sujood) to renew our intention 5 times a day one of the most comprehensive forms of dhikr (rememberance) the best way to get close to our Creator a separation between a believer and a disbeliever a gift given to every believer a form of purification washing away our sins (5 times a day) a key to Paradise a time where our rank can be raised (sujood) to humble ourselves before our creator to physically stand before Allah the Almighty a connection with the slave and our Creator to converse with Allah - speaking directly to Him! an appointment with Allah set specifically for us (what an honor) a form of jihaad a fight against the shaytaan to restrain us from evil and indecency constant remembrance of Allah to begin our day with remembering Him & to end our day with remembering Him to face the noblest of directions (qiblah) unity for all Muslims - to solidify us I created the jinn and humankind only that they might worship Me [51:56] ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ (They will be) in Gardens (of Delight): they will question each other, And (ask) of the Sinners: "What led you into Hell Fire?"
