i have heard that after you die, all of your finger nails that you cut will be thrown back at you.  so when you cut them, you should cut them into a peace of paper and then fold it up and then throw it away, so that when it hits you, it wont hurt because its inside the paper.

i would like to know if this is correct.

jazak allah khair

Put it inside some cotton ball...it's much softer than paper!

this sounds really weird, ive never heard anything like this before. I really doubt this is true... I do know a hadith that says to bury your finger nails(I dont know if this hadith is authentic or not, im looking it up now inshaAllah). wa Allahu Alim.

ps- people really should ask for evidences when people tell them things...

That sounds like a big hoax! But I do know that its better to bury your nails rather than throwing them in the bin. :-)

Question:

Is it correct that throwing away one’s nail clippings is haraam and that they should be buried?

Answer:

Praise be to Allaah.

Islam tells us to trim our nails, because this is one of the five qualities dictated by the fitrah (natural inclination of man). If one throws them in the garbage or buries them, there is nothing wrong with doing either (Fataawa al-Lajnah al-Daa’imah, 5/174). But if one is afraid that they may fall into the hands of a practitioner of sihr (witchcraft), then he should bury them or throw them somewhere where such people will not be able to get their hands on them. And Allaah knows best.

Islam Q&A
Sheikh Muhammed Salih Al-Munajjid (www.islam-qa.com)

(the question asked in the original post, about wrapping them in paper because they are thrown at you later is NOT true, they are not thrown at you and you dont need to wrap them...)
