[slm] have a go at these brain teasers, and Inshallah i'll post the answers as soon as you've had a go at them :) 1) What travels around the world, and yet stays in one corner? 2) It flies through the air, but isn't an aeroplane, its full of water but isn't a river, what is it? 3) It begins with T, ends with T, and has T in it, what is it? 4) What do i add to a barrel of 20 litres of water, to make it 12 litres? 5) You answer it, but it never asks you questions, what is it? 6) What goes up, but never comes down? 7) What goes up when rain comes down? 8) I have 2 bottles, one can hold 3 litres and the other can hold 5 litres. I need exactly 4 litres of water. The bottles are not marked. You need to give me 4 litres of water using these 2 bottle for measuring. For the next to your only alowed to read it once, and once only!!! cause if you keep reading them then you just spoil it for urself :P 9) A man lives in a bungalow, he has painted his tables red, chairs red, walls red, cupboards red, why hasn't he painted his stairs red? 10) okay for this one you got to answer quickly in your head, without thinking longer than 3 seconds.... What colour are clouds? What colour are your teeth? What colour are polar bears? what colour is snow? What do cows drink? [wlm] |

[slm] This one really teased my brain and i couldn't get the answer, and had to give up :) anyhow heres the riddle; A man is the Imam, leading the prayer. When he makes salaam to the right, his prayer becomes invalid. And when he makes salaam to the left, his wife becomes divorced. One of the 4 imaams (May Allaah have mercy upon them all) I dunno which one of them, was asked this riddle and got the answer within seconds. any ideas for the answer? [wlm] |

Assalam alaykum warahmatullah :) sorry for not making the riddle clear; the question in the riddle is what were the two things that when the imaam made salaam to the right his prayer became invalid, and when he made salaam to the left , his wife becomes divorced. | [slm] i was thinking hard about this...ok, i dont know why his prayer would be invalid if he said salam to the right, but, if it was invalid, then he wouldnt be saying salam to the left, so how could his wife be divorced? this one is hard! any more clues? |

[slm] his prayer didn't become invalid because he gave salaam to the right but as he was giving salaam to the right, what could this thing be, that caused his salaah to become invalid? He gave salaam to the left and his wife became divorced. Again what thing would make his wife become divorced? clue number 2: both happened cause of something he saw. still no idea? ??? try guessing :-) [wlm] |

| Assalamu'alaikum :) OK, Blurrblob's gonna try... I think the man probably, got into a fight or smt with his wife, and threatened her that if she leaves the house and steps out of the door, then the 1st (2nd or 3rd) talaq would fall. So, while he was praying, and doing his first salam, he saw his wife going towards the door.. so he said.. "Assalamu... Oii... you there! 'alaikum" But by the time,he says salam to his left, thorugh the reflection of a mirror, he saw his wife, stepped out of the door, and the talaq fell... and inevitably divorced her. Other scenarios: His wife touched him on his cheek as she was leaving. He follows the Shafi'i opinion, and loses his wudhu, and hence makes his prayer invalid. Or, his nose bleeds, as he was doing his first salam (due to the fight he had with his wife earlier), and by the time he turns left for the second salam, his wife steps out of the house, and the talaq fell on her. (In this scenario, he holds on to the opinion that nose bleeds break his wudhu) Allahua'lam... I'd like to see wot others have to say before the answer comes though. It'll be fun. Just try! Just make up a story! But hmm... my talk of divorce and violence is depressing. :( OK, next! :) |

| [slm] Wardah we're are all awaiting the answer with great anticipation, I think you are enjoying see us in our mysery :) Did he see the sun rise? Was he praying Fajar really late, and the sun was rising and when he said salam to his right, the sun was up fully and this invalidated the prayer. this also signalled the start of a new day and three months since they divorced thus the Iddat (the period of waiting after divorce) passed and he had divorced his wife. okay i know i've written rubbish but i have no idea what the answer is! |

So keep up the guesses, people! :) There was a soap opera on TV here, and in one episode, the man pronounced divorce to his wife. But being the usual soap opera, they set it such a way, that made people confused whether he can re-marry her again due to the less than straightforward way he divorced his wife. That made the audience find out more abt the hukm of divorce in Islam. U should have seen the ladies in my office... when that happened. What a big hoo haa! | [slm] Ok, so Im going through all my books, but I cant come across something that breaks the wudu by just seeing something... Is there something he sees on himself that breaks the wudu? Also, sis Barr's idea that he seen his wife leave the house and that he had said if she leaves the house then she is divorced is really the only idea I can come up with now. Is that even close to the answer? Hmmmmmmmm. Im about to give up now and call a sheikh, :D |

wa alaykum asalam warahmatullah lol! okay... for why the wudhu was broken, find the hadith about rasullullah (saw) and Aisha (ra) who were travelling and she lost her necklace, you should find something about wudhu in this hadith, that should help Inshallah. for why his wife became divorced he saw someone, and when seeing this person he autimatically becomes divorced to his wife. hmm...me thinks i've given too much away! [wlm] :) |

| well, i wasn't going to get into this one because i'm just plain too ignorant, and i may be quite wrong, but i'll throw in the answers i'd give: if a woman passes in front of people praying (men only? i don't know...) i think their prayer becomes invalid. one of the reasons for the object in front of you while praying, as i understand that... so, i think he first saw his wife, turned, and then saw his long-lost, presumed dead first wife. (OR could be "fourth" wife by count....) so his prayer is invalid and his marriage to the woman who turned up is still legal. if he lives where only one wife is legal, it was his missing first wife he saw, if he has four wives, it was just some missing wife. (of his, i mean... :D) mwishka p.s. isn't a doorbell maybe a better answer than a phone, because even when you answer the door, it's less likely that the first thing you hear will be a question, but when you answer the phone, often the first thing you hear is a question. though, technically, in neither case did the object do any asking though it called you to "answer" it..... |

[/quote] 8br>Your prize is..... a Duaa from me (The contents of the Duaa a secret between me and Allah) and the hadith was; Narrated 'Aisha: (the wife of the Prophet) We set out with Allahs Apostle on one of his journeys till we reached Al-Baida' or Dhatul-Jaish, a necklace of mine was broken (and lost). Allah's Apostle stayed there to search for it, and so did the people along with him. There was no water at that place, so the people went to Abu- Bakr As-Siddiq and said, "Don't you see what 'Aisha has done? She has made Allah's Apostle and the people stay where there is no water and they have no water with them." Abu Bakr came while Allah's Apostle was sleeping with his head on my thigh, He said, to me: "You have detained Allah's Apostle and the people where there is no water and they have no water with them. So he admonished me and said what Allah wished him to say and hit me on my flank with his hand. Nothing prevented me from moving (because of pain) but the position of Allah's Apostle on my thigh. Allah's Apostle got up when dawn broke and there was no water. So Allah revealed the Divine Verses of Tayammum. So they all performed Tayammum. Usaid bin Hudair said, "O the family of Abu Bakr! This is not the first blessing of yours." Then the camel on which I was riding was caused to move from its place and the necklace was found beneath it. As for the second part of the riddle, mwishka thats a really good answer but not the answer i'm looking for. [/quote] yep doorbell could be replaced with telephone as an answer to the riddle too, hmm... both equally equal :) Telephone; 'Assalam alaikum' 'wa alaikum asalam warahmatullah' 'Is so and so home?' Doorbell; 'Assalam alaikum' 'wa alaikum asalam warahmatullah' 'Is so and so home?' both can be used to answer the riddle. | assalamu alaikum, ok, here's my guess: the salam to the left was the salam for salatul ishaa on the last day of his wife's Idda of the third divorce. At this point the divorce is final, there's no way they can get back together unless she marries someone else and divorces him. ? |

Um when you said that he saw someone that made him get divorced, did he see his wife's first husband that they thought was dead or something? then he turned up to be alive and so because a woman can only have one husband this bro was automatically out of the picture. hmmm theres my guess... but i'm ready for the answer! [slm] i don't believe this! Hijabi4l you got the answer!!! Mashallah! was this ur guess, and ur guess alone? cause if it is then wow!!! i'm really impressed that you got it right. So this imaam made salaam to the left and he saw this brother. He was a Mujaahid bro who had been missing for over 2 years, and so everyone thought he was matyred. So his wife was free to re-marry and she married the imaam. When the imaam sees the Mujaahid bro he autimatically becomes divorced. sis Hijabi4l your prize is a Duaa from me :-) i've got a better idea, all of you get a Duaa from me for your guesses and good attempts, as for Fahaad and Hijabi4l you both get a free prentend ticket to make umrah plus a Duaa from me :) wa alaykum asalam warahmatullah |

I really can't remember the title. I didn't watch and keep up with the soap, I'm afraid. *plus, I find it boooring* But the thing is, the soap is in Malay, and hence deal with issues existing in the Malay culture, of which most of us are Muslims.
