| Salaam I am new in the area. I attend Albany Law and live near Albany Medical Center. I heard that they have a room in the emergency room or nearby to read Jumma. Is this for both men and women? The last time I visited I only saw men so I was wondering if I could just walk in and read namaz. Any suggestions? The only reason I ask is because going to Med Center would be much more convinent for me. Sukriya. Allah hafiz. |

| salaam alikum I am not sure about what happens at the Medical center but there is a mosque on central ave about 5 minutes from the albany law school on news scotland. The mosque is called as salaam I am not sure the exact address but i can find out for you if you like. What type of law are u studying insha Allah i am planning on going to Albany Law School and studying civil rights law |

| I just finished my first year and inshallah I will be successful. I am not sure what I want to get into right now. Civil and Human rights are top of the list. |

| [slm] heena, welcome to the community... feel free to email us to hang out and stuff :) jumah is held in albany medical center on fridays... i don't know how to explain where it is but if you go in the main visitors entrance walk up to the middle of the lobby and take a left down a little hallway you will see some glass windows that lead into the room. It is basically exactly under the chapel. So if you can find the chapel you'll be able to find the prayer room on the floor underneath. I think you've already been there so should be OK. Men and women do pray in there.. (I've prayed there).. so you should be OK.. Masjid AsSalaam is on 276 Central Ave. I don't know if women still go in through the back alleyway but no doubt they do.. There's also jumah at two other locations: ICCD and RPI. (and SUNY when in session) |

| [slm] Pardon for the delay in responding. The Jummah at Albany Medical Center is held every Friday in the Marcelle Congregation Room (the directions to which are as jannah described; as you enter the main lobby you will immediately enter the surgical waiting area with lots of chairs around. The room is pretty much in the middle of this on the left). The time is 1:00 PM year round. [slm]:) |
