ASA to all members,

I greet all of you with greetings of peace. I posted my dilemma a few time now, so I really apologize if members are getting bored with my comments. I hope Allah swt forgives me. I recieved my blood test report back yesterday. On the report it showed a positive reading for EBV (Ebstein barr Virus) this is a cousin of the classic "mono". This may explain all the aches and pains I've been feeling. Not sure how I may have gotten this. Anyway, I was told that this is incurable, and that I will have to deal with for the rest of my life. Does anyone have any info on this virus? Also, can prayer cure even the most relentless disease? Well, I appreciate all of the support and sincere prayers that you all promised.  Well, I will stay in touch in-shallah. If you want to email me directly you may at smirza007@yahoo.com.

Jazaakalakharoon,

Br. Mohammad

Allah can cure anything..keeping praying and making dua. Maybe someone can tell you about Ruqiyah(sp) its a type of healing by Quran and duas...

You may find some info about this virus here:

May Allah heal you and wipe out your sins and higher your degrees with this illness. Be patient and know that Allah knows what is best for us. Allah is the Healer, the All-Knowing.

Thank-you sister,

I appreciate your help. What is the prayer you were referring to? You know I feel so humbled now with this ailment. I mean one should never take this life for granted, which I never did. I hope that I can over come this through the help of Allah (swt). I will also read the site link you sent me. I really appreciate it...this means allot to me. You know I lost so much this year I can't believe it.

Wa'salaams,
Mohammad

bro mohammad,

i am glad to hear that you're getting good medical care.  EBV is exactly the virus i was hoping someone had checked for.  Lyme and EBV symptoms are pretty similar...   and don't be dismayed if you encounter people who refer to EBV as "the yuppie virus" and discount your symptoms.  try not to let it affect you.  (oh, and how people get it is still kind of unknown, but most people report a period of extreme stress, followed by flu-like symptoms.  that's still the latest i've read on its origins, but i haven't really checked recently.  more might be known now.)

as for it being "incurable", please don't hear this as that it is necessarily going to destroy your health and life.  lots of people have this and have very little interference in their lives from it.  but there are some for whom it can be fairly disabling, i'm not trying to pretend that isn't true.  i would think that those in the second category might have had less generally good health to start with, or weakened immune systems from stress, poor nutrition, other illnesses  --- any number of reasons.

and for this reason, everything you can do to take care of the rest of your life will assist you in dealing with this, too.  and will probably play a large role in the degree to which it is able to affect your overall health.

i would suggest you read about it at CDC's (centers for disease control) website, and read current medical textbooks for additional information.  and ask your rheumatologist for additional reading materials.

if you go to medical "advice" websites, you have to be very careful how you interpret the information you find there.  i think that if you find it to be written in a non-scary, non-sensationalistic manner, it's probably at least somewhat helpful information, but try to ignore anything you find that sounds kooky or hyped up...

with the information from a rheumatologist that you have this virus, now would be agood time to look for a support group in the area where you live.  personally, i think such groups can be especially useful to provide leads to skilled doctors who are most "up" on treatments or maintenance techniques, but these groups ARE for support, and will give you a place to talk with a range of other people who will have a range of experiences with the virus.

i wish you the best with working out all of the things you're facing.

Thank-you for the reply sister mwishka,

I appreciate the information you shared with me. I will do more research on the virus itself and go from there. I do have relatives that are in the medical profession whom I can speak with. It is a very challenging condition that can be dibilitating at times. I have to believe that this is curable. I pray to Allah every minute to take this evil out of my body and to forgive me for any wrong I may have done. I remember how active and "happy" I was before this hit me. I must go on and face this like a strong muslim and ward of this virus. I must believe that Allah can cure any ailment that is small or large. I will try and keep you updated on my condition.

Wa'salaams,
Mohammad
