Assalamu'alaikum...

There's this oil... its called Minyak (Oil) Orang Aring. An Indonesian/ Malay Herb oil thing. I'll try to find out its English name, inshaAllah. It works pretty good with Medium curls, mashaAllah.

But if you put the hijab on after application.. the curls would go flat.
I guess that's normal. Allahua'lam.

Wassalam :-)

I agree with Zahra, try coconut oil. Palmer's makes a good one with vitamin E and Pure Lanolin.  It's made for dry hair. I dont know if I would put black seed oil on my hair though..its smell is quite strong. I do use it for so many things though! I had a rash once that wouldnt go away, so i put black seed oil on it one night and the next morning, no rash! mashaAllah...

MashaAllah, those products look really good..but they are really expensive! I was reading some of the product info/ingredients on the site and here's what they said about Jojoba Oil.
Jojoba Oil-Moisturizes extra dry, thirsty hair.....naturally. Infuses moisture directly into the scalp and hair shaft, quenching the thirst of extremely dry hair. With consistent use, your hair will begin to show improved elasticity, moisture balance and longer lasting shine.
So maybe you could try that?
I dont know if I would put black seed oil on my hair though..its smell is quite strong.
Okay, I admit that it does have a strong smell, but I never think about it.  You rub it in your hair and then put a shower cap over it.  Leave it on overnight and then wash it out in the morning.  Masha'Allah it works wonders. Trust me.   ;)

Yeah, you might be able to find it in Arabic store.  :)

Insha'Allah have another great day sis.

What about oils that'll prevent hair from falling out?  My hair is just getting thinner and thinner, it's depressing.  And my mom's on this treatment that'll probably make her hair fall out.   :(  Any suggestions?  I wonder if blackseed oil would work for that as well.

Assalamu alaikum
Ma sha Allah thanks to this post I learned a lot this afternoon about Black Seed oil.  I researched it all afternoon on the internet.  I recommended it to my mom to take as a supplement because she's on a very intensive treatment for Hepatitis C.  I'm also going to start taking it as a supplement and also rubbing it into my hair insha Allah.
Not suprisingly most of the studies done on it were by Muslims.  Sadaqa Rasul Allah when he said that the Black seed is a remedy for all diseases.
Jazakum Allah khair!!!!!

salam alaikum,
I guess I wouldnt mind the smell if I were to wash it out. I thought sis Barraa was looking for an oil that she could leave in all day (like a styling product) but I guess if you put the black seed oil in for a couple hours then washed it out it would be more like a treatment..so then I wouldnt mind the smell  8). (You should see the types of treatments I do to my hair and skin  :D) Sis M.F. I know what you mean, I stayed all afternoon reading about black seed and honey. I have a bunch of black seed and black seed oil...does anyone know any recipes or what else I could use it for?

Assalamu alaikum,
If I had black seed oil (and Insha Allah I'm going to get some as soon as I can) I'd take a teaspoon of it every day as a dietary supplement, I'd put some on my skin to improve its elasticity (I'm assuming that it'll help and maybe I won't get a lot of stretch marks later on) and I'd rub a spoonful into my scalp every night or maybe every morning since my head's covered all day and no one will know (is the smell really really strong? :) ) maybe I'd do it a few hours before I shower.
The seeds I'd start using in salads and stuff.  Or maybe just chewing them up.  I think probably that have to be really chewed up or ground in order for the oils to come out, otherwise maybe they don't get digested?  I read that it has volatile oils which I believe means that they evaporate as soon as the seeds are ground so maybe chewing them is best.
Wallahu a'lam :)
They actually taste ok.  I've had it kneaded into bread and it's pretty good.

OK, pardon my obvious ignorance here, but what exactly is a "black seed"?  I mean, I can guess that it is black (but that wasn't too tough), but what plant does it come from, etc.?

Thanks!

Dawn,
Black seed, aka black cumin, aka Nigella.  It comes from a flower.  It's used as a spice in cooking kind of like sesame seeds but it has a different flavor.  The Prophet (S) said that it was a cure for every illness except death (or poison?).  That's why most of the research on it seems to have been done by Muslims.  The sweetsunnah.com page is really nice and has lots of information about it.  I just discovered it yesterday.

Ok, I tried it. I mixed honey with black seed, then applied it to my damp hair..I kept it on for a couple hours covered...then I washed it out. Wow, it really worked great! MashaAllah.
I also broke open a vitamin E capsule and rubbed it all over my face and kept it there for the same amount of time...then I washed it off with warm water. That turned out good too.

Don't put essential oils in your hair. They are expensive and very strong. What
you'd do if you wanted one is to put a drop of an essential oil in a container of some
other oil. It's supposed to be the scent helps make you feel a certain way -- lavendar for
relaxation, etc.

Almond oil is very nice and has a light, sweet scent with a hint of almond.

"Black seed, aka black cumin, aka Nigella.  It comes from a flower"
just a correction, black seeds are not black cumin they are onion seeds, black cumin is
somethign totally different...and mashallah black seeds do have cure for all diseases as
quoted :)

"Horizons" Islamic magaizine advertises and sells many Black seed oil soaps and oils.  I don't know how easy to get the magazine is everywhere else, but I pick one up from time to time at Mas-jid.

www.sweetsunnah.com is a company that advertises Black Seed Herbals in the Islamic Horizons magazine.
www.amazingherbs.com is another.
The magazine itself does not appear to have it's own website.  I'll get a more resent addition if the Mas-jid has any tommorow.  Nathan.
