| I posted here several months ago but never properly introduced myself at the "water cooler". I'm male, 30 and reverted to Islam 3 years ago. I live in the suburbs of Washington DC and have no Muslims within my family structure. I'm learning with every chance I get. Inshaallah. Nathan. |

| What does MashaAllah mean in English, Brother? My Arabic is centered around Salat and unfortunately at this point does not go much farther than that. Nathan. |

| brother edison, (anyone else here could help you better than i can, i'll just give you answers so you aren't kept waiting....) there is a glossary in the madina "help", and below are two links to other glossaries which include additional terms and phrases:: http://www.geocities.com/muminah/Terms.html http://www.usc.edu/dept/MSA/reference/glossary.html masha'allah is an exclamation of praise and wonderment denoting appreciation, meaning "what god has willed!" mwishka (can anyone tell me if this is related to the same word or root as "mashi", meaning to walk, also to go forward, and therefore also "ok" as in a positive agreement, willingness, and imminent move to action?) |
