Salam and the Golden Queen
International Cartoons & Animation Center, Inc. http://www.familytoons.com
Children's Cartoon 90mins

Summary: Salam and the Knights of Virtue, Labeeb and Hudhud embark on a fantastic odyssey into the world of the honeybees. A lab accident causes them  to shrink to the size of insects and to make the antidote they need the Queen bee's royal jelly, but first may have to save her from the evil wasp king and his henchwasp-men!

Comments: This cartoon was so cute. I enjoyed the simple plot and loved the idea of learning all about honeybees and how they work. It's a great story to watch and get the kids interested in science and stuff.. My recommendation is for ages 4-12 (minus the mtv 12 year olds).

Salam's Journey, the first in this series has a better plot and storyline but this one seems more natural with the voices and dubbing. Perhaps Salam's Journey was made in Arabic originally and was just dubbed. This one seems to be designed in English all the way, even the songs.   The only negative I can think of is that there aren't any overtly islamic teachings here besides the 'inshallah's' and 'alhamdulillahs', but on thinking about it i think this is better because then it doesn't turn into one of those lecturing thing kids hate, but still teaches about cooperation, working together, helping family, respecting elders and leadership in an Islamic environment.

Technically the cartoon is very high quality. Kudos to the production company; their goal to create alternative Islamic values cartoon fare meets with success.

Score: I give it a 10 out of 10 :-X's !!

I'm thinking of running out and buying the second one that I haven't seen: Salam and the Knights of Virtue :)
