Wisdom hurts…

Wisdom teeth that is. My back teeth are coming in, and it hurts so bad! I’ve been rinsing my mouth with hydrogen peroxide to keep it all clean and everything. What can I do to take away the pain? It’s irritating all my teeth and gums. It even hurts to eat or talk. I tried putting honey and cinnamon on it, ;) but it didn’t help anything…any ideas?

Have you tied something simple like an ibuprohen or tylenol?

Call your dentist and ask him for advice.

Also- those teething medicines like ambusal will help temporarily (check for alcohol), as well as cold baby teething rings.

Asalamu Alykum,

Sorry to hear that  :(... Also,  i think once a month cause of the growth spurt the pain is worseee. Definitely try painkillers( do talk to your dentist), it takes the pain away. InshaAllah, i hope you feel better soon :)

Sorry to hear about your wisdom teeth, but like everyone else kinda said, see if you can handle it w/painkillers or something bc getting them removed is a lot of the time unneccesary (unless infected). I had all 4 of mine removed at once, the surgery was long and painful and I had a bad recovery and now, almost 6 years later my oral surgeon says all my jaw problems- unable to chew hard foods, pain, locking up etc, stem from a rough surgery--which is frighteningly common!  :o

Thanks for your replies, I just bought some Ibuprofen 400mg. It's helping a lot alhamdulilah. Still pain, but not as much. Should I go to the dentist to have them look at it or no need? I dont want them pulled!  :'(

If you are concerned go to the dentist...even if just alleivates your fears.

I don't know about you, but when I have a toothache...it disappears the day I finally go to the dentist!

[slm],

I think you should still go to the dentist, they may be infected if it's that painful, but stress to him/her that you don't want to get them out unless it's absolutely necessary, they tend to take them out even if they aren't causing any problems.  Good luck!

[slm],

Sorry about all that pain, but i would go see the dentist. you may have to take out those wisdom teeth eventually, so the pain will really go away. My parents and sibiling all got their wisdom teeth pulled out. I guess your right Saadia, dentist's, are always getting those wisdom teeth pulled, but it does make the pain go away if its too much!  ;)

Hope you fell better.

wasalam,

I have to get 2 of my wisdom teeth pulled....haven't scheduled it yet...

I'm not scared! They give you painkillers and from what I've heard from my family, it doesn't hurt much, just numb and sore for a while!

Take care of your teeth, and they will take care of you !

This is a good time to ask NonMuslims NOT to respond to threads where people are asking for Islamic advice. For one many do not know if you are Muslim or not and two some of the things that are advised are completely AGAINST our religion. So please have some respect.

What is meant by "Islamic Questions" is when someone asks about a detail of Islamic law or a question detailing something about the tenets of Islam or how those tenets relate to their daily lives.

 put some laong on it
or get some of those oils that most pakistani mums
put on babies gums when they're teething

don't have the teeth pulled cause it'll weaken your jawbone

i guess i'll be the resident dentist here.  ya ya ya.. i've heard it all.. suicide rates, looking at mouthes all day, blah blah blah.
so, wisdom teeth.  the best thing to do, is to go and see your dentist.  they'll take a pan-o-rex x-ray to see how the teeth are comming in.  if they are comming in all wierd and all, its best to remove them.  most are simple procedures and require only local anesthetic.
if you can't take the pain right now, then take some NSAIDS. thats stuff like ibuprophen, asprin, etc.  if it really hurts, then take the extra strength stuff. these are over the counter drugs.  if it hurts even more, then et some good ole' T3's or apsrin 222.

and no, removing wisdom teeth DO NOT weaken your jaw bone. hahah. .thats pretty funny. can't wait to tell my class that one.
