Dubai Ruler's Court in deal with Microsoft Dubai |By A Staff Reporter | 31-07-2002 gulfnews.com The Dubai Ruler's Court has awarded Microsoft the contract to provide its solutions across 40 government departments employing 25,000 people. This is the latest step in Dubai's e-government initiative, and assures full legal status for all software used within the government. "It is critical for governments to structure themselves efficiently to serve their country better. This is especially inevitable for the Government of Dubai as it emerges as one of the leading business hubs in the regional economy," said Dr Khalifa Mohammed Ahmed, director-general, the Dubai Ruler's Court. The Microsoft solutions will enable individual users within the government departments to readily access and organise information. Microsoft's core servers and office automation products will be the platform. "The Government of Dubai is investing in enhancing its efficiency in order to provide well-integrated and efficient services to businesses and citizens," said Thani Al Zaffin, director, Department of Government Information Resources Plan-ning, the Dubai Ruler's Court. "A significant investment has been to create a strong technology backbone to support all our business processes and we believe we will benefit in terms of increased productivity, better collaboration, tighter integration and faster time to market with Microsoft's software." |
