help! dawwah to family

How do I do dawah to my family whilst I live an ocean apart from them? I want to share
with them the light of Islam. They're Muslims but I'm afraid they don't fully follow the
Qur'an & Sunnah. I'd like them to know that Islam is more than just rituals. I've been
communicating with them through phone but not as often as I'd like too (expensive!). Does
anyone have experience with this? How do I approach them gently? Only Allah can change
someone's heart, but how do I, at least, help present to them the true Islam?

salam

You can email them with islamic advice, send them good articles to read, recommend good sites ect..I always talk to my family through AIM or MSN or Yahoo instant messaging. That works good for me. Well, I guess your family would need a computer though. If they dont have computers, you can always use snail mail.

Jus' a lil thought anon...if you are an ocean apart from them how do you know they are not following the Quran and sunnah properly???
Well if you know that's the case for sure, jus' write to them about your personal reflections on Islam...your feelings, your readings, your involvement...It always helps when coming from a personal perspective rather than "you should do this or that" attitude. Don't approach them with a self righteous attitude, or make them feel they are not muslim "enough"..that will put them off.
Otherwise, I like truth finder's idea, sending relevant articles, book recommendations (or books), tapes, etc are a good way to spread the message..and keep the lines of communication sincere and open...
May Allah grant you Tawfiq in your endevours (Amin).
Sis,
Maliha :-)
