| How to choose the right one for a husband? |

| As Salaam Alaikum! I am in a terrible predicament! There are two men who wish to ask for my hand in marriage, and I cannot decide whom to choose; as they are both good men and able to provide for me. What should I do??? |

| [slm] It is my understanding that only one man at a time can come a "courtin!" Deal with the one who approached first...do not compare. and then deal with the second one. here is the hadeeth: “None of you should propose to a woman when his brother has already proposed, until the first one gives up the idea of marrying her or gives him permission, then he may propose to her.” |

| assalaamu alaikum Kathy, thats a misconception. That hadith is only valid once the lady has accepted the proposal of a man, i.e. it is no longer permissible for anyone else to ask for her hand. But if she is as yet undecided as to who to marry and has made no indication as to whom she will marry, she may listen to any proposal she wishes that comes her way, wAllahu -a'lam. | [slm] Choose the one with the best character how can you tell character?...ask people about him and see how many people will tell you whether he's a good or bad person. Start with people with him at school & mosque |
