I got this from my mom (from a website) Amir was a real delight to have around. He was full of life and mischief. Amir had such an infectious laugh that everyone would join with him to share his daily delights. Amir ran through the garden, shouting with delight. He ran to his favourite corner of the garden. Here was where the snails gathered for their noon meal. Amir would watch them move and then very slowly and gently he would touch them with a twig. He would giggle with delight as he saw the snail retreat into the shell. He would jump up and down saying, "Snail gone, snail gone." Amir rompe` through the garden. He ran towards the pond, another favourite part of the neighbour's garden. Here he liked to watch the fishes swimming. There was this one favourite fish of his that he called baby fish. As he was watching baby fish swimming he leaned further inwards to catch a glimpse of baby fish as it scuttled away to the other side of the pond. Amir must have leaned too much for he fell into the pond and screamed, "Aaaaaagh, aaaaaaagh." No one heard him as he struggled to get up. He made it once but the slippery pond made him fall down again. This time his head knocked the bottom of the pond and he could not get up. Back home Anwar and Adnan: Amir's elder brothers, were in the kitchen having a cool drink after their football game. Suddenly Adnan asked the maid, "Where is Amir?" The maid said, "I thought he was playing in the garden with you." All of them rushed out of the door as they realised Amir was not in the house. They could not find Amir in the garden so they went to the neighbour's garden. They looked everywhere but saw no signs of Amir. Just as the maid was passing the pond she saw something in the water and rushed towards the pond. She realized it was Amir and screamed in fear. Adnan rushed to the pond and got Amir out. Adnan who knew CPR worked on Amir and could see that Amir was still breathing. He rushed him to the neighbour's car and with the help of the driver they sped to the hospital. In the car Adnan saw that Amir was still breathing and his eyes were fluttering. Anwar meantime, rushed into the house and called his mum and said, "Mum, Amir is blue and Adnan has taken him to hospital." Mum rushed to the hospital and found the maid crying outside the emergency room. Adnan was babbling, "Mum we tried everything but could not revive Amir. Adnan was sobbing uncontrollably. When Amir was brought to the hospital, his heart had stopped beating and the ECG revealed no heartbeat. He was clinically dead. The doctors gave him an electric shock and started to bag him manually. In the ICU he was frozen to prevent any further brain damage and he was put on a ventilator. Amir was in a coma and a machine was breathing for him! His eyes were taped down and his body was full of tubes and plugs, his forehead was the only place left for his family to kiss him. Mum kissed him; it didn't feel like Amir, it was like kissing plastic. Tears rolled down mum's cheeks. After 5 days, he was taken off the ventilator, he was breathing on his own, however he needed a hood around him with oxygen supply. Amir had lost his ability to swallow and was constantly suctioned to clear his throat. While Amir was still comatose, physiotherapists were exercising his limbs. A speech therapist was also working on him. Mum was with Amir 24 hours a day. Amir was stiff as a board; "C" shapped; totally spastic; fists clenched under his chin; very tight faced; unable to open his mouth. Amir was tube fed when he was discharged from the hospital. Alhamdulillah, after 1 ? years, Amir now commando crawls, he is beginning to eat pureed foods, his swallow reflex is coming back, his hands are open, he is learning to sit, he can respond with cooing and gurgling sounds, he can hear. By the Grace of Allaah SWT he has improved by milestones. He is still blind but has started reacting to light; he sometimes smiles and has started laughing; especially when his brothers play with him. His mum, Fezia has been making doa to Allaah SWT seeking His help in healing Amir. For it is only with the permission of Allaah SWT that Amir has improved to this stage. Subhanallah, it is Allaah SWT who created Amir and it is He who sustains him. At the same time Amir's mum has been working on Amir using all available methods to stimulate brain function that will help Amir's brain to function normally. It is hard work and very stressful, but the family loves him very much and are working together to help Amir. But they all know that the greatest help comes from Allaah SWT the creator of the 'Alameen. The family remembers Amir as a bouncing, laughing and beaming child. It is painful for them to see Amir in this state. They remain patient and put their trust in Allaah SWT. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ SPECIAL DOA FOR AMIR BIN ASGER Amir's mum has made a request that we all make a special doa for Amir and ask Allaah SWT to heal him and get him back to his old normal self again. So please take a few minutes after your solat to doa for Amir bin Asger. Doa that Amir can see the beautiful creations of Allaah SWT; Amir can walk to the masjid for his solat; Amir can learn to read and understand the Qur'an and teach it to others. Amir can run and laugh and love like all little boys and girls. Amir's family knows that it is to Allaah SWT that we worship and it is only to Him that we ask for help. Surah Al Fatiha 1:5 Iyyaaka na'3budu wa iyyaaka nasta 3'in. You [alone] we worship [na'3budu], and You [alone] we ask for help [nasta 3'in] [for each and everything]. So it is only to Allaah SWT they turn to for help. They know that this is a difficult test from Allaah SWT. When we have such a test we must first accept it. Allaah SWT knows what is best for our dunya and akhirat. We then doa to Allaah SWT to lessen the burden and give us patience, [Sabar]. If you would like to write kind words to this family to show support, here is the email: fezia@tm.net.my Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim Surah 51:56 Wama Khalaqtul Jinna Wal Insa ILLa liya'a buduun. And I (Allah) have not created the jinn and mankind except that they should worship Me (alone). |

[slm] Thanks for posting the story Sarah. We often take the smallest things for granted. There are many people in the world who have undergone so much that we can't even imagine. I remember some friends of ours who one day couldn't find their little 5 year old son and found him already gone in their swimming pool in the backyard. No one knows what happenned. *I* can't even deal with understanding it sitting here, I can't imagine what they went through. |

[slm] A very touching story sarah. But what I have to say is so strange that it almost made me gasp for air. when I read the boys full name I was totally taken aback. Believe it or not, my younger brothers name is Amir and my dads name is Asger. Though Amir bin Asger is not his full name. How unusuall is that? I felt like I was in the twilight zone or something. Nevetheless, I pray Amir gets better soon. Traveler |
