Originally from Bangalore, India. Born & raised in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Been lurking around this place for about 5 years now. Finally mustered up the courage 2 actually register & post. Coz this is the coolest place on the web !!! :-X

I'm studying in Bangalore. But right now i'm on vacation in good ole Saudi Arabia, the coolest place on Earth. Which means i have a lot of spare time on hand. So u can expect a whole loooooootsa posts from me, at least until i get back to the daily grind.

You used to live in Riyadh?!  Get outta here!  I bet we know each other.  So let's refrain from the formalities of "whereabouts exactly?"  (lol)

Have fun.. (to receive full effect of that phrase, it must be spoken in a thick italian accent...Al Pacino style.)

Wasalaam.

Just so I make this clear:

Gajrela is not the same as Gajar ka Halwa...two very different things, with two very different tastes, with two very different responses from my taste buds  :-/  :-/

Gajrela is like yoghurt-ish...like kheer but with a whole lotta carrots in it.

Gajar ka Halwa is cooked carrot mush, that is very versatile, which you can spread on toast or eat plain or better yet, eat with some sheermaal.  yum yum.

(note...I like kheer, but u can skip the carrots :D )

SF.

(p.s. don't ask how the conversation got to this, but my own cooking is serving me no justice nowadays...))

My ignorance is exposed... :-[

 ;D

Well my neighbours cook Gajrela..while we cook Gajar Halva..

but they both taste the same except Gajrela is bit rougher on the tongue

Anyway ..your one to talk..putting Gajar Halva on toast indeed...

the very idea is preposterous !

You can have Gajar Halva cold with hot tea, mixed with milk or warm

It is not recommended to eat TOO MUCH gajar Halva (more than several

plates a day) or to eat it cold on it's own...   ;D

I used 2 study in Baldwin's - the college not the school.

And i absolutely detest gajar ka halwa & i have no idea what gajrela is. The only indian sweet i like is rasmallai. Yumm!!! Except 4 that my sweet tooth can only tolerate all things chocolatey  :-*

Where i'm staying the muslim community is the pits!!!  >:( Muslims who actually understand what Islam is, are exteremely scarce. So the Madinah is going 2 be my only connection 2 true Islam 4 a long time. God bless the Internet    :-X
