Assalamu alaikum, Any of you who speak Arabic should listen to this halaqa by Br. Amr Khaled about how to spend you summer vacation :) It's really beneficial ma sha Allah. Learn how to read the Qur'an with tajweed or tarteel Get back in touch with those friends you've been ignoring all year. You haven't left much out :) I guess that's about it from me :) |

[slm] I love Amr Khalid!!! I wish they would subtitle all his stuff and sell it. InshaAllah they will soon. Unfortunately it's difficult to understand unless you know Misry.. For my summer vacation I plan to keep a journal of my trip and share it when I come back inshaAllah :) |

Assalamu alaikum, Another amazing da'iya who speaks in very clear Arabic is Tareq Al-Suwaidan. You can also find his talks on islamway.com. I downloaded 250M worth of Suwaidan and Amr Khaled just last week and about 100 more this week (I told you I was bored at work) :) Suwaidan is very easy to follow, and the sound quality is really good. His talk about the last hour and qiyama are very powerful. I never used to understand Egyptian Arabic (and was teased many times in Morocco because of this :) ) till I started watching Amr Khaled. May Allah give us more people like him. |

[slm] I went to my favorite dawah center and rented a bunch of Abu Hamza tapes... I put my two kids to bed and get a nice drink and have 1 hour of uninterrupted bliss. I am really enjoying these. |

[slm] As per Jannah's request, I am off to solve the problem of World Hunger. ;) No, in all seriousness, I plan on (yes you guessed it!) running away with the neighbor's pet fish to set it free on the shores of Lake Ontario. I mean it must hate it in that wee pond in the middle of their garden. When it rains, it gets all scared, and hides in the corner under all that gross seaweed. So, me being the airhead that I am, I will drop it into Lake Ontario. This lake, smelly as it is, happens to be the most polluted fresh water reserve on Planet Earth. Afterwards, I plan on demanding more pay in order to reduce the threat of my resignation (me being indespensible to the various authority figures at work). Hey! the money's for a good cause! I plan on buying the little fishy a house on the bottom of the lake. I plan on fighting a war with the red killer ants in my uncle's lawn (the one I have to mow every weekend). Not only that! I plan on fighting the war with ONE HAND only (with the aid of a glass of water.) I will finish writing the book I started when I was five. The title still remains "Why Penguins Have Knees." (yes, it is a proven fact....penguins have knees, I never quite understood why they needed them.) Another interesting fact about penguins, and this is to all you UK-ers out there, because your government is spending big bucks on researching this: When British Air Force planes fly over penguins somewhere in the vast north, penguins will stop. and stare. eyes focussed on plane. and they don't take their eyes of it, until it passes it overhead, thus causing them to fall over on their backs. I must find a way to incorporate that in my book. In practical terms, I plan on finding a new roommate for the upcoming school year, because the one I currently has doesn't let me borrow her na-ice jeans jacket. (Actually, the real reason being her befuddling sleeping pattern) I also need new shoes, a car, and a new gym membership. So, I will start a new charity and title it "SF"...you can make donations here. (I only accept small bills, no cheques, no CC's, and no donations less than $50.00 ... hey!! it's not a lot! Remember, I'm Canadian.) Now, setting myself up for nothing in this break will get me REAL far, because if I do miraculously accomplish ANYTHING, it'll make my mommy proud. (Perhaps I should start with watering my mommy's flowers, the ones she so lovingly left me with last month.) And, I'll be sure to fill you all, all of y'all, in. May Allah (swt) keep all of you safe and happy. Brother Muqaddar, things will look up for you...three weeks is a long time, do some thinking, it actually nurtures the spirit. Wasalaam. Your sister, SF. |

[slm] okay, i've read that vacation thread in that spooky Dar Al Hikmah place i never go to and I'm sad that the board is going for 3 weeks. :( I've only just discovered this place. I think i'll spend more time finding a job cos goodness knows I need one! I also felt kinda guilty reading that thread about limiting posts and having to review the nature of this board. I felt like a naughty school kid being told off. 8) I always seem to feel guilt even for things I've never done. I'm strange like that. also, I dont know when midnight is cos i changed to local time for when i log on. i guess i'll find out when i cant get on here anymore! take care everyone, Nafisa :-) |

[slm] I was just wondering, does this Madina summer vacation have any relation with Jannah's trip to India? Just a thought. 8) |

[slm] I have a question :) Since the madina is going on vacation, does that mean we won't have access to the website at all? or will we still be able to look at old posts if we wanted, for example to find that yummy hummus recipie ;D [wlm] |
