Breaking News Madina Wire Madina News has just learned that the Madina will be re-opened this coming Friday, Sept 13 at midnight. The Madina had been closed some three weeks earlier under somewhat mysterious circumstances. Madina experts say the closure was due to some much needed contemplation and restructuring. Dr. AbuHamza al Hakeem, president of the Madina Citizens for the Madina organization said, "The time was right to bring the Madina back to the Madinans! Long live the Madina!" Other Madinans claim various reasons for the closure. Says Old Man BrKhalid by the river, "I been 'ere livin in the Madina my 'ole darn life, but all these younguns now, them sure needed the shakin up! Should just kick 'em all out, I say" "I think they closed the Madina because of those...aliens...shhh...you know the ones with those...onions," said one Madinan in hiding who wished to remain anonymous. "Just call me err...Kackie." Madina news was unable to reach Madinat al-Muslimeen founder known as "jannah" for comment. Calls to her mobile phone just yielded the following mystifying message: "ALLO? Ali BABA's BIZZA... I iz in INDIA, don't call me, I CALLS U! " This message adds to the speculation that jannah is on a secret world tour, this time traveling into Asia. "Yeah that jannah, like it's so cool like, kind of like Ian on Lonely Planet, but it's like jannah you know!" adds Madina Moderator Meraj. Arshad, co-administrator of the Madina refused comment. "Don't you get it I'm bhaloo---bear---I'M HIBERNATING!! Leave me alone", was his only statement to Madina News before disconnecting the phone. German researchers have also been studying the developments in the Madina. Eleanor DeWitty of the University of Germany suggests that the re-opening of the Madina will be a significant historical event. "It shall be one of the most important turning points of our generation." Others, like free-lance journalist Se7en of Se7en Independent News disagree. "I think people should get a life...and that includes me first!" Shopkeepers like Asim of No.1 Pak T-shirts plan to make 5000 honorary opening t-shirts with the slogan "Madina Zindabad!" Kashif of Proper English Chocolatiers will distribute mints with the message. "Mmmmm chocolate..can the Madina get any better?" The controversy continues and the opening will be covered by Madina News Live, so STAY TUNED!!!!!!! Assalaam Alaikum, Peace, This is an announcement to let everyone know that the Madina Message Board will be closed for a period of about 3 weeks starting from Midnight August 15, 2002. This decision has come about through much reflection and discussion, motivated by the events of this past year. We hope that everyone can use this summer vacation break as an opportunity to re-evaluate their niyyah, presence and relationship with the board. Also, please take this time to think about how we can improve the board for everyone. Some things to consider: Re-evaluating the purpose and nature of the board. Making the board members-only. Adding new moderators. Moving moderators. Creating new forums. Removing unused forums. New creative ideas for the Special forum. Adding board mods. Adding new features. Re-structuring the Madina, Admin and Moderator functions. Adding amendments to the Constitution. Deleting members that haven’t posted in long periods of time. Allowing new members only by recommendation. Not allowing certain types of posts or topics. Changing user-removal and warning policies. Removing certain members. Current problems and solutions. And so on… Please think about these and send your suggestions for improvement of the board and/or it's administration to the email jannahorg@yahoo.com If each of us could send ten improvements that can be made to the board, it would be a great start. We can then collate these and begin to make some changes for the better! We would also like everyone to think about whether they are un-healthily attached to the board or the opposite, present but only as part of the façade. This break should allow everyone to think about what the goal and purpose of the board is, what they wanted/want the board to be and what role the board plays in your life. Please, let’s use this time to re-think and re-formulate our intentions and InshaAllah from this we can open the gates to a new and more beautiful Madina!
