Salam, I just installed this but it doesn't seem to be taking the location when you click? Does anyone see any pins??? Here's the description: Description: This mod let members mark their location on a Map and type city/location and select country. The info is saved in the regular members.dat file and will appear in the members profile as City, Country. Members and Admin can edit the map-entry from their Profile-view. Guests cannot use this feature. Members can view the members location from Profile-view by clicking on the "text" location and return to the Profile by clicking on the Pin. Members can view the total Member Map from the menu and open a members Profile by clicking on a Pin. On total-maps there is a list of the members to single out a members pin by clicking on the members name. Admin can add or remove Maps and Countries and reorder Maps |

[slm] I see a few members on the map, but for some reason I'm off this map (i.e. out of this world). |

The writer of the script helped to fix some stuff. It should be working well now in IE. In Netscape 6+ something weird happens... but try it out.. :) |

I must be missing something here. I have tried both IE and Netscape and I can't seem to be able to add a pin in either. I can see the pins that some have added, but in Europe, even though there are two people listed as being in the UK, there are no pins. And I added Switzerland to my profile and tried to add a pin, but in Netscape, the pin wouldn't take, and in IE, no map appeared to add a pin to (though the reference to said map was present). Do I need to do something else? What am I doing wrong? Dawn |

The script wasn't completely working until last night... So you can try again in IE. I added a pin for you at Zurich (I'm learning alot of geography through this ;)) Some people haven't placed their pins yet either... Here's some directions just in case.

Look for a post that you've written and click on where it has your name on the left side. <--------------------------
That should take you to View your Profile
then click on where it says Edit Member Map
then just change the drop down to which continent you're on
then just click on where you live on the map
and click on save
et voila... hopefully that should do it :) |

Ayee, This pin feature works fine. Quite impressive. Nice one Jannah. However, you may wanna change the FAq's a little to how a person can add a pin to the map. It took me wee while to work out. Salaams Hanif |

[slm] Jannah, it would be easy for the user if 'Edit Member Map' link is provided in the 'Edit Profile' page(the page on click of 'profile' link at the top) also. View profile page is little difficult to navigate to. |

@zanfaz - the reason for not placing the "Edit Member Map" link in "Edit Profile" is that to edit the member map you'll have to load the map - this means that you'll be leaving the "Edit Profile" screen and thereby forgetting any other changes you may have made there. It's actually rather easy to navigate to your "View Profile". Just scroll to the bottom of the board-index. In "Info Center" you have the "Users online" area - click on your name - and voila!! Greetings Carsten (author of MemberMap) Sorry for my danish/english and for using the test-account for posting :) |

Hello Carsten I understand the reason now. The flow which jannah had described to reach view profile page is little long. Now that i know the shorter route, i won't complain :) Anywayz, welcome to the board. MemberMap is a cool feature. salaams |

Asalaam Aleykum Sister Zahra, You may be the first South African Member but not the first African Member. I have there for quite sometime and always felt like the only African Member. Alhamdu Lillah, I am not alone now. I must say it is great to know where all sisters and brothers are from. If I had known this earlier, I would have been able to contact some of the brothers and sisters in Europe this summer. I was in the Netherlands (Holland) - Alkamaar for 18 days, from 31/07/02 - 18/08/02 and in the U.K. -London, from 18/08/02 - 06/09/02. It would have been a great pleasure to talk even if on the phone only. Now I am back in Nairobi, Kenya. Shukran Sis Janna for such a wonderful idea. Halima |
