starting trouble ;)

as salaamu alaykum,

Am I the only one who's completely confused by the new bro/sis feature?  "yateey" and "ta'aadh" are not the Arabic words for sister and brother.. and they don't even look like the English words 'sis' and 'bro' to me (even though it was a cool idea)

I hereby protest the feature, and demand a change to something people can actually understand  :P

who's with me?

as salaamu alaykum,

dude I'm sorry but most *normal people* tend to read arabic in arabic (duhh)

and why you gotta make things personal ???  "I love not those that set" has a very deep meaning, which of course *some people* just can't appreciate :P  Read the story of prophet Ibraheem (alayhis salaam) to learn more :)

peace sista

ps -- all you people who agree with me,  [] on the house! ;)

Hey... its cool.. leave it alone!

Just because some people can't look beyond the apparent, doesn't mean, it doesn't have any meaning.

And Br Uthmaan, I bet U've sent some of those Eid Cards that's got those Arabic writings that means nothing in Arabic but Selamat Hari Raya in Malay. so, there! Don't go all double standards.

But of course, I shall be impartial  ;D.. se7en, keep up on the quote. Its deep, MashaAllah.

Jannah, give it up sis.

Should have listened to me earlier, at least you wouldn't have to face this public humiliation :P

I'm gonna ignore what bhaloo said, because it's unworthy of any comment!

Jannah, why don't you use to indicate female and to indicate male?

Still waiting sis for someting new to appear. I guess we are in a for a long wait ?
I for one like the idea of Arabic as it's something different, and please whatever you do Jannah don't bring those smileys that our infamous basketball player is on about.  To me, one looks like  someone in the clouds and the other from the cartoon series Popeye, you guessed it Pluto. No decent self respecting bro would have his beard so untidy, no sis would look like she's worn white fleece round her face.

..and here I was thinking I was just stupid or something.

Mind you once I got used to the feature I liked it!! I was trying to read the one for sis and going "oh okay it must say akhwat in arabic" and then I saw the one for bro and I was like "Duh..okay..wow! cool!".

So I think it's cool and an "insider" kind of thing. Like when we get new people they'll say "what the heck is that thing in arabic" and then we get to be all cool and say "what? don't you *know* - that says sis/bro"

hmm .. okay so that can get annoying like when the billionth person asks "what is bebsi" (no offense to anyone -  I asked this question too..)  []
So Jannah, weigh up the pro's and the con's

Pros: me, you and Barr
Cons: everyone else

oh and I think those other bro/sis smilies are *not* good... in a Popeye kind of way, or you could say "ol' man by the river" kind of way...

how about this for bro: ... in  a Turkish/Moroccan kind of way and....

this: .. for sis in an Afro-hijabi kind of way?

okay just joking...

do what you want, in fact, admin you'd better delete this post since it is not saying anything specific  :P

Hey, I think the Arabic letters isn't such a bad idea...it reminds me of a shirt I have...

It uses the same concept of Arabic letters in place for English letters and says:

Dolce & Gabbana...

My Arabic friends used to try to read it and say... "I think that might be Farsi because it sure isn't Arabic!!"  I would have to explain it to them...

But I think its very cute!

I realy like the bro/sis indicator  and it is a big improvement on  the male/female indicators we had before , i think it's pretty cool. 8)
I would be disappointed if these symbols were changed into smilies (sorry bro. Arsalan). Fot some reason the current indicators seem more grown up and the smilies would seem ......kind of .......(how do I put this mildly)....NOT :P.

Take care,

Bushra :-)
