| [slm] Insha'Allah this message finds you all in strong iman and good health. I have recently remarried and plan to move insha'Allah seven hours away from my current residence. My three year old daughters father stated that he wants me to leave my precious baby behind with him. She has lived with me up to this point visiting him on the weekends. My understanding is that according to islamic shariah that the children belong to the father, and additionally in the case of girls or young children they should remain with the mother. I love my daughter so much and dont think I could handle having to hand her over knowing that I would only see her a few times a year. Please I am looking for some islamicly sound rulings on this matter knowing that whatever Allah commands is what I must do. This is tearing me apart already and I would so much appreciate what anyone can tell me. JazakAllahu khairan. |

| [wlm] sister, I think you should contact your local Imam or find a knowledgable person in your area to help you in this. Children are supposed to be with their mother at such a young age and the shariah states this. |
