Hullo there :)

I'm just wondering.. do U mean, halal to eat or halal to use?

Something that is halal to use, doesn't mean that it is halal to eat.
... like detergent is halal to be used, but its haram to drink as it can cause death.

That is, if, we merely look at the physical properties of something.

However, if the same detergent was stolen, then, it would be haram for the thief to use the detergent, as well.

This changes the permissability of using something due to a course of action that is haram in itself.

But if something is clearly haram, with regards to its physical properties or as a result of an action/ intention...then Y use it?

I'm not sure whether I answered your question... but this is my initial response. It'll be great if you can help clarify, inshaALlah. Or others who can help? I may have missed smt here. Allahua'lam.

Jazakallah :-)
Wassalam

I  think anonymous was talking about

"the hidden haraam"

Like toothpaste could be haraam and we don't even know it!!!

But you are quite right Sr.Barr - there is far more to the haram/halaal issue than just food or drink.

So anonymous - anything specific?
