[slm], Well, about three days back I used facial cold wax strips for the first time on my face and since, I have this rash/blister type reaction on my cheeks. It's only on my cheeks and it has not gone away. I was wondering if anyone else had a similar reaction and has useful tips to reduce it before I go to the doctor. All input would be greatly appreciated. Bushra :-) |

Bushra, Is the rash only where you put the wax strips or on the edges of where you put the wax strips or nowhere near where you put the wax strips? It is possible to be allergic to one brand of wax and not another, as I have found out. I had been waxing my legs for a couple of years when we moved and I had to find a new wax. And the first one I tried left this really itchy rash (which appeared the next day) on about 75% of the area that it touched as well as some of the surrounding areas that weren't waxed. But it didn't spread to, say, my arms which were nowhere close to the area waxed. It took a good week to ten days to disappear completely. I tried again, thinking maybe it was the prewaxing solution I had used, but nope, I got it again (but this time, I only did a small test area). I tried a different wax, and no problems. What helped me, at least to control the itching, was a cortisone cream (over-the-counter type -- nothing strong), similar to the stuff used for other rashes. The rash itself went away in its own good time, I think. Commiserating, Dawn |

[slm] I used these strips on my face right after taking a warm bath. ::).....my cheekbones became red as if somebody had scratched my face .....it was'nt exactly a rash more like the skin got rubbed off ....it took two weeks for the scars/scratches to disappear. If it takes longer than that or if you feel it's not geting better ...you should probably see a doctor........ :-* |

[slm] I think as sr Dawn said, you may be allergic to the wax - because of course if you're using cold wax strips they usually have lots of other chemicals in them. Perhaps you could use something soothing and antiseptic on the rash eg: products containing tea tree oil are usually good. [wlm] |

Assalamu'alaikum :-)
I'm wondering, what are facial cold wax strips???
:o Cold waxes are available in precoated strips which can be pressed directly onto the skin. The hair sticks to the wax and is then removed with the quick pull back action. (Cold waxing is also known as Persian waxing). Its the same kind that you would use on your legs, underarms, etc, but they have smaller strips for the face. Is it more painful on the face than the legs? Check this out => How do I wax? It gives instructions as well as other FAQs on waxing.. plus pictures. Hmm, this looks interesting.. anyone used them before?
