Allah causes us to die daily at night during our sleeping. Then He makes us to wake up from our temporary death to praise Him and to serve Him. The Qur'an states:

"It is God that takes the souls (of men) at death; and those that die not (He takes) during their sleep; those on whom He has passed the decree of death, He keeps back (from returning to life) but the rest He sends (to their bodies) for a term appointed. Verily in these are signs for those who reflect." (39:42)

Atif Zafreen  May Allah have mercy on his soul, was 29 years old, he passed away on Monday at 5.25pm Subhan'Allah.

I did not know Atif until February this year, when he was in hospital with his sick mother who was given 3 days to live, she had cancer. Atif's father had passed away when Atif was very young. Atif suffered from Heart Desease but despite this he cared for his mother Subhan'Allah for 3 years. Totally devoting his life to his mothers care. We all think we would like to do this but how many of us could truly do this, without feeling the burden?

Atif did not have any family or friends - at the lonliest and most desperate time of his life he was totally alone - he remembered old family friends who they had not maintained contact with and contacted them - one person Atif contacted was Jadid.  Jadid did not know how to help Atif and contacted me to see if we could help- I did not know Jadid, he had seen some email of mine that had been posted - when we got to the hospital we found that Atif had been there for a week without sleep or rest - he was totally exhausted.

The next day his mother died, May Allah save her from the torture and torment of the grave and offer her a place in Jannah Ameen.  We organised the Jannazah at East London Masjid and arranged for her to be buried in the same cemetary as his father May Allah also grant him Jannah . Subhan'Allah, two days earlier Atif felt he was all alone in the world and having to deal with his mothers death on his own and suddenly Subhan'Allah the Masjid was filled to bursting point, people had travelled from all over to pray Salatul Janazah for his mother. I spoke to Atif the night his mother died - and I will never forget as we were both crying he Said it feels like my heart is being pulled out, and I look around and there are all these ppl who I have never met standing with me, crying with me. Subhan'Allah this was a display of brotherhood - like the accounts that we read about of great Muslims who lived long ago, the way we all want to be but often don't be, as we are too busy with our own lives our own problems.

Atif has left a letter making Dua for all those that stood with him at his lowest point in life.

Atif had been locked in a legal battle with the local council who have tried to evict him since his mothers death, he was also not receiving any benefits for the last 2 years - his mother supported him, but he has had no income since her death. Atif had to pay for his medicines - which you can imagine was not easy as he had no income. It was because of the council that during this last bout of illness Atif did not rush to hospital - imagine having heart failure and not running to the hospital he was afraid the council would evict him while he was in hospital. The irony is while Atif was in hospital - with heart failure, kindney failure and unconscience for 5 days - (doctors were afraid that he also had brain damage),  the council wrote to him to let him know that they had transferred the tenancy to his name!

Atif's Jannazah Insha'Allah is this Friday - at Wimbledon Masjid after Juma'h prayer - if you can, please come and pray for this brother of ours who lived a short life but was loved by Allah - as we have Allahs promise that He tests those He loves.

Atif will be buried Insha'Allah at Tottenham Court Cemetary near his parents - May Allah reunite them in Jannah and raise their Muqaam.Ameen

We need to pay for the burial plot upfront the cost is £1200 - we also need to pay £600 to the funeral Diractors - if you can please contribute towards this.

Atif's flat needs to be sorted out and things given to charity - if anyone in the London area can help out please contact me - or if you feel you can help in any other way please contact me.

Life in this world is a temporary one. The real life is the one hereafter. In this respect the Qur'an
states : {What is the life of this world but an amusement and play? But verily the Hereafter, that is life indeed, it they but knew.} (29:64)

Narrated by Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) saying that the Prophet said: (When a child of Adam dies, his deeds are over except through three things: a perpetual charity, a useful knowledge, or a good child to pray for him}
