| [slm] PBS is airing a documentary on Gujarat called 'Soul of a Nation', on September 19th, 10 PM. Some extremist Hindus are trying to block this and are planning to call in and protest. We are all aware of the atrocities committed against Muslims in Gujarat. We should do our best to show our support for the documentary. 1. Please call up your local stations and show support for PBS for the program. 2. Encourage everyone to watch the program. 2. Call the station and thank them after the program is aired. | [wlm] Ok I watched this last night. I think it was a good portrayal of religious violence that happens in other countries outside the middle east. It hopefully opened alot of people's eyes to the evils of nazi hinduism. The only thing was I thought they did not bring out the Muslim side enough. They kept harping on the train were 58 Hindus died and didn't linger on the ONE THOUSAND Muslims that were murdered, burned alive in revenge/excuse for this. I also did not think it was fair that they didn't mention that whole controversy about the Muslim girl being raped on the train/area etc... They also did not have any type of Muslim leader on there so no Muslim response when that crazed hindu leader said that wherever Muslims go they want to kill everyone else and look at israel/palestine, kashmir, china, sept 11...they can never live anywhere in peace... and i think that one statement will stick in peoples minds unfortunately (all these places where muslims are being oppressed and killed but of course he didn't mention that). The most ironic statement that evil guy made was that they had a right to take revenge and kill all those Muslims, "just like the US bombed Afghanistan.. we're doing the same thing" The scariest thing said was that the RSS and World Hindu Council used a comprehensive llist of every Muslim home, shop, business, industrial base and systematically "cleansed" Gujurat (with the complicity of the police and gov't )of them during that 3 day period. That ethnic cleansing and pograms can exist in today's world is disgusting, what's worse is the hypocrisy of the world's nations. When it happens to Muslims they just shrug and say something like "oh they've been fighting for 1000's of years". Where is the justice? |

| [slm] I watched last night and I have two things to say: 1. Everyone in the world will justify what they do to muslims by bringing up either September 11th and the American response in Afghanistan. 2. I am tired of all the wars, fighting and killing. The last thing I am gonna say is this. Alhamdulilah Allah has given me deen now. Because if I were not to have it, to see what people do in the name of religion, I don't see how I would involve myself with ANY religion. |
