Mission #6: Dare

Asalaamu Alaikum Madina Citizen ;-)

Your mission this week, should you choose to accept it, is to learn and memorise a dua [supplication] of your choice.

There is no stipulation on how long it should be, but to complete the Mission you must have it memorised by next Friday midnight EST.

As always, should you, or any member of the Madina fail in your mission, the Madina will disavow all knowledge of your actions.

This post will self-destruct in five seconds. (or be moved to the ARK soon)

Does the dua have to be in Arabic?

Preferably yes but Agents won't fail if they learn their chosen dua in the language of their choice.

As-salaamu 'alaikum wa rahmatullah,

Here's one I wanted to have memorized for a while now.
JazaakAllahu khair for the "push"!

The Prophet said "The most superior way of asking for forgiveness from Allah is:

'Allahumma anta Rabbi, laa ilaha illa anta, khalaqtani wa ana ‘abduka, wa ana 'ala ‘ahdika wa wa'dika mastaTa'tu, a'udhu bika min sharri ma Sana'tu, abu'u laka bini'matika 'alaiyya, wa abu'u bidhanbi faghfirli, fa-innahu laa yaghfiru-dhdhunuba illa anta.'”

[O Allah, you are my Lord. None has the right to be worshipped but You. You created me and I am your slave, and I abide by your covenant and promise as best I can. I take refuge in You from the evil which I have committed. I acknowledge your favor/blessings upon me and I acknowledge my sin, so forgive me, for verily, none can forgive except You.]

The Prophet added. "If somebody recites it during the day with firm faith in it, and dies on the same day before the evening, he will be from the people of Paradise; and if somebody recites it at night with firm faith in it, and dies before the morning, he will be from the people of Paradise." [Saheeh Bukhaari]

I agree with Sister Sofia, thanks for the "push"!

Here's the one I memorized:

Bismillah ir Rahman ir Raheem,

Allahuma innee zalamtu nafsee zulman katheeran, wa la yaghfirudh dhunooba illa Anta fagfir lee maghfiratan min indeeka warhamnee innaka Antal Ghafoorur Raheem.

Oh Allah I have greatly wronged myself and no one forgives sins but You. So grant me forgiveness and have mercy on me. Surely You are Forgiving, Merciful.

as salaamu alaykum,

an awesome duaa:

Ya Allah I ask You by Your knowledge of the unseen, and by Your power to create and Your power over creation, give me life as long as You know life is good for me, and cause me to die if You know death is better for me. Ya Allah I ask You that I am conscious of you whether in secret or in public, and I ask you that I speak the word of truth, and I ask You that I be fair and just whether in anger or at peace, and I ask You to direct me to be moderate and content whether in poverty or prosperity, and I ask You for an uninterrupted light, and I ask You for peace and light from my eyes unending, and I ask You to be pleased with me after Your Judgement, and I ask You for the coolness of living after death, and I ask You for the right to look at Your face, and I ask You for longing to meet You, not in a state of harm or pain, nor in a state of calamity or trial, which causes me to stray away. Beautify me with the beauty of eman, and let me be of those who guide and are guided.

as salaamu alaykum,

Here's another duaa that is a bit shorter, that is *really* nice :)  Sorry for the late recommendation!

Allahummaj 'al fee qalbee nooraan, wa fee leesanee nooran, waj'al fee sam'ee nooran, waj'al fee bassaree nooran, waj'al min khalfee nooran, wa min amaamee nooran, waj'al min fawqee nooran, wa min tahtee nooran.  Allahumma 'aatinee nooran.

O Allah place within my heart noor [light], and upon my tongue noor, and within my ears noor, and within my eyes noor, and place behind me noor and in front of me noor and above me noor and beneath me noor.  Oh Allah, bestow upon me noor.

Two gems:

Allaahumma innee a3oodhu bika min 3ilmin laa yanfa3, wa min qalbin laa yakhshaa, wa min nafsin laa tashba3, wa min du3aa'in laa yustajaabu lahaa

Rough translation: O Allah!  I seek refuge in you from knowledge which does not benefit, from a qalb [heart] which does not humble itself before You, from a nafs [inner self] which is not satiated, and from a supplication which is not answered (by You).

Allaahumma innee as'aluka tawbatan/inaabatan laa raja3ta feehaa walaa Hawr; yaa haadee al-muDilleen, wa yaa muSliH al-SaaliHeen, wa yaa arHam al-raaHimeen

Rough translation: Oh Allah, I ask You for a return to You so perfect that I do not ever stumble again; Oh You who guides even those who misguide; Oh Rectifier of Affairs; Oh Most Merciful of those who show mercy.

[slm] everyone, been awhile :)

Here's one:

Allahumma 'ajal hubbaka ahabba ilayya min nafsee, wa ahli, wa maali, wa waladi, wa min al-maa'al baridi ala atThamma.

"O Allah, make love of you dearer to me than my nafs, my family, my wealth, my children, and than cool water to the thirsty wayfarer."

This is soooo beautiful.

It was reported from ‘Abd-Allaah ibn Mas’ood that the Prophet  (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “No person suffers any anxiety or grief, and says:

Allaahumma innee ‘abduka wa ibn ‘abdika wa ibn amatika, naasiyati bi yadika, maadin fiyya hukmuka, ‘adlun fiyya qadaa’uka, as’aluka bi kulli ismin huwa laka sammayta bihi nafsaka aw anzaltahu fi kitaabika aw ‘allamtahu ahadan min khalqika aw ista’tharta bihi fi ‘ilm il-ghaybi ‘andak an taj’ala al-Qur’aana rabee’ qalbi wa noor sadri wa jalaa’a huzni wa dhahaaba hammi

~ O Allaah, I am Your slave, son of Your slave, son of Your female slave, my forelock is in Your hand, Your command over me is forever executed and Your decree over me is just. I ask You by every Name belonging to You which You named Yourself with, or revealed in Your Book, or You taught to any of Your creation, or You have preserved in the knowledge of the unseen with You, that You make the Qur’aan the life of my heart and the light of my breast, and a departure for my sorrow and a release for my anxiety

- but Allaah will take away his sorrow and grief, and give him in their stead joy.”

Better late than never, right M....or in agent speak better late than dead ;)?

I was always attached to this one. Have learned/unlearned:( it many times:

Allahumma raHmataka arjoo falaa takilnee ila nafsee Tarfata 3ainin wa aSliHlee sha'nee kallahu, laa ilaha illa anta.

O Allah, it is Your mercy that I hope for, so do not leave me in charge of my affairs even for a blink of an eye and rectify for me all of my affairs. None has the right to be worshipped except You.

A beautiful du'a that i learnt recently from one of amr khalid's lectures

Allahumma innee as'aluka hubbak, wa hubb man ahabbak, wa hubba 'amalin saaleh yuqarribunee ila hubbak. Allahumma ma razaqtanee mimmaa uhebb faj'alahu quwwatan lee feemaa tohebb, Allahumma wa ma zawayta 'annee mimmaa uhebb faj'alaho faraaghan lee feemaa tohebb"

Approx. translation

O Allah i ask You Your Love , and the love of the one who loves You, and the love of a righteous deed that brings me closer to Your Love. O Allah whatever You have given me of what i love then make it a strength for me in what You Love. And O Allah whatever You have kept away from me of what i love then make it a vacancy (to occupy myself) in what You Love.
