Help for PhD Student

I am currently assisting a sister who is in her final stages of writing her dissertation. Her topic is an interesting one, that revolves around a question of framing: How indigenous African American Muslim women understand and apply the meaning of Qur'an 4:34 in their own lives. What tools, tafsir, etc. do they use to adhere to Qur'an and Sunah.

Any of you out there who have embarked on scholarship on this level know that it can be full of difficulties. The help I am able to offer her is typing, research, interviewing, transcribing, that sort of thing.

This sister needs some help with everyday living expenses. Her Islam is such that she does not worry about these things, but for her, as she is a dear friend and person who is doing such wonderful work fisabi Allah, I thought about checking in with the Madina community.

My question is this:

She is no longer being supported by her school, and as you probably know, any grant you write for takes you away from the task at hand. If any of you know of any support sources that would require simple application processes, for folks studying Islamic topics (her PhD is in Islamic Studies, focusing on Sharia) please let me know. InshaAllah. I keep thinking about the hadith that speaks of scholars dissappearing.  :(
She has taught me so much alhamdullilah and she is so close to finishing alhamdullilah.
May Allah bless all of you for your time.
