[slm] Could anyone please give me instructions on how to change a mpeg sound file into mp3. I know you can do it by changing the file extension name in DOS, but don't know how to go about that. Jazakum Allahu khairan |

[wlm] umm just changing the ending doesn't really change the file format..??. it is easy enough to do.. just go to START> Programs > MS Dos prompt and then type in: rename blah.mpeg blah.mp3 btw most mp3 players will also play mpegs and vice versa... |

[slm] Jazaki Allahu khairan, I'll try it. It isn't for listening, it is so I can edit it. I can't edit mpeg files but have the software for editing mp3 and wave files. |

[slm] Have you tried WinAmp? I know you can change MP3 to WAV with WinAmp but I'm sure you can change other formats too. You can download the software for free - just google WinAmp for the URL. Another thing you might try is to see if your software lets you record. If it does, you could try playing your sound file with one software (eg WinAmp) and hitting "record" on your editing programme. It should record what is being played from WinAmp into the correct format. I know you can do this with Cool Edit. You can also use Cool Edit to record something you have playing from the Internet on Real Player. Good luck!! |
