I have not introduced myself though I've known about this section of the site since my initial visit. Anyways, I was attracted to this site's clean design and organization as well as the nonjudgemental atmosphere. I'm not in college. Are most people here in college? I sometimes get the sense that this site caters to college students. In any case, I am no longer in college, thank God, though I teach at a University.

Anyways, this is a pretty nice site. I think I'm gravitating away from Web talk and deeper into my own work. However, it is good to have this community around for little discussions that may be beneficial insha Allah.

By the way, my online name here is Octagon, obviously. Previously, I was visiting as ibn sabil, but I have decided to change my on-screen name to Octagon, for purposes of maintaining privacy, avoiding showing off (insha Allah), and also because I like the geometry of the octagon which is a central motif in Masjid al Nabawi al Sharif, and probably is widespread in other examples of Muslim architecture.

Finally, I should mention perhaps that I first saw this site a long time ago. I don't remember how many years it's been, or the circumstances of the discovery, but the butterflies, the name, and the concept of "kewl Muslims" was something that appealed to me back then and stayed in my memory. Mash'Allah.

Jazakum Allah khair.

Welcome to the board br. octagon. Nice to have you on. And i wouldn't worry about the age of the bro's and sis' on the board. They range from very young to middle age, wAlhamdulillah.

Thank you for the welcome; however, I should point out that I'm not worried about ages, merely curious to know if this is a place specifically for college students. I think you're saying that it is not, though; and, I haven't read that it is, so I wonder how I got that impression. Anyways, it doesn't matter, probably.

What do you teach at university?  Oh that was a question spurring from curiosity.  You are not obliged to answer, in order to retain your privacy.

Wasalaam.

My dear Canadian sister, I teach ESL and College composition.

And my dear sister, Betul, yes, Alahmdolillah; it's good to have people of all ages to interact with, isn't it?

Jazakum Allah khair.
