Is Kathy a Terrorist?

Yesterday I was waiting to get my prescription filled at the CVS,
the same one I have shopped at for years. I had to go to the bathroom.

After washing my hands, I opened the door to leave the bathroom.

Right in front of the door stood three men with grimacing looks on there face and heavy objects in thier hands.

"What are you doing in there?" one of them asked in a threatening way.

I glanced at his worker badge, which said manager, and knowing that
I was walking out of the bathroom door labeled woman, I replied "uh... going to the bathroom."

"Who told you you could go?" He said even more threatening.

Me -realizing that I may be in potential danger, while also worring
about my husband waiting for me in the back ground.. I began to get a wee bit nervous.

" A worker" I replied. (Of course in the back of my mind I am thinking
I am middle aged woman and haven't had to ask permission in a long time....)

"Which one?!!" he asked again in a demanding tone.

Like I know the worker's name.... I thought. And said in a incredulous voice- "I don't know..."

"How did you get in here?" he bellowed.

I started to smirk... mainly because it was so foolish, and because
finally I got over the initial shock of being surrounded.

"Um... I turned the door handle..." I mean how else does a person get into a bathroom?

He then got a little flustered, apparently what ever security they
have in place did not work and he began to fidget with the door
handle and indeed saw it opened with out using a code.

They began to fumble with the lock, saw that the security was apparently turned off... I walked away looked at him and said... "Like I would know your security code...."

Is my mom a Terrorist?

Yesterday seems like a weird day for stuff  :o Last night my mom's minivan's window was completely broken, looked like someone threw a brick in and took it out with a baseball bat after for full effect :( but the police say it was just college students who get drunk and break s*** (yeah the guy actually used that word). Our first thought was hate crime since we have a bismillah sticker on the driver's side door in Arabic and English. I was having visions of crosses burning on our lawn and stuff, but alhamdulillah he doesn't think so since there was no other damage and some other reports of broken windows elsewhere.

It's kind of frightening how different life is after 9/11.

[slm],

thats really scary... I just pray that allah protects all muslims and nonmuslims, and that we live in peace with other people. listening to the things on the news about that sniper in maryland, and personal stories like kathy and jannah's, and all this stuff about iraq and palestine, just get me real scared, and remind me how much closer each day we are in a way to the day of judgement.

Dude, Red you ain't said nothing but a word.  I swear if I didn't know any better I'd think I was an actor.  I mean ever since the monica lewinsky stuff, it's like we've been living in a movie.  And this stuff in MD is really making me feel like that.  Driving down the street you think your next.  Someone whose just letting off a couple shots around the way, I'm use to that.  And it's to be expected.  Normal drug activity.  But this is crazy.  This guys sits, and waits, and then someone hits the ground.  And he's shooting children and old people.  And with a sniper you never know.  If some drug dealers start to argue, you know, hey it's time for us to start walking before some shots ring out.  But with a sniper, there's nothing you can do.  Just pray Allah protects you.

Sounds like a situation I had.

I interviewed at Target and was offered the job, but had to decline because of the overnight hours.

As I walked out with my overstuffed backpack( I had put my sneakers and unprofessional gear in their) I vaguely heard some shouting in the back, but down because of my inability to take the job, I unconsciously ignored it.

Next thing I know there is some guy pulling at the handstrap of my backpack( it was on my back) to stop me and running, shouting at me to stop. i wasn't even in the parking lot yet, but I was hurrying to catch my bus. Apparently someone had stolen some stuff at the same time I was in the store.

He didn't have a uniform so at first I didn't realize that he was security.
He asked me if I had anything in the backpack, I said no, as another security guard looked on, he repeated the question and I looked kinda pleadingly at the second guard who didn't seem to agree with what was going on. He then asked me  to look him in the eye( I guess I had been keeping my gaze down) and tell him that I had nothing in the backpack  and that he could search it. I rolled my eyes and generally acted as if he
was being a bother, I tried not to show him my fear and said that yes, he
could search the backpack if he wanted to.

It wasn't until afterwards that I began to really wonder if it was motivated by my hijab, the irony of being offered a job and then being accused of
shoplifting afterwards. I missed my bus and was getting a bit teary. I still wonder if a hurrying non-muslim lady with a big bag would have been stopped so aggressively.

What do you guys think?

Salam alaikum,

When I was 16, I was a cashier at Kmart. I remember we had a similar situation happen, but with non-muslims. ;) There were these 2 women and their little girls. (the kids had to have been about 2 years old) and they went into the fitting rooms for a looooooooooong time..and then they tried to leave the store holding a backpack each. Once they stepped out of the door our security (wearing normal clothing also) grabbed their bags roughly. (like they did to you) I remember them screaming and saying let me go, not in front of my kid ???(why would they bring their kids to steal with them??), their kids were crying, and one woman punched the security man.. Anyways, it was a mess. They finally searched them and found lots and lots of clothing nicely folded in their backpacks.
So Kareema, it couldve been your hijab, but I'd guess it was your backpack since you said someone had been stealing while you were in the store anyways. Allahu Alim. :)

Take care everyone.. and sis Kathy, you really need to settle down on your terrorist activity.  :P
