[slm] bsm Source : SANHA (South African National Halaal Association) From a humble beginning of issuing directives on food additives in 1962, the European Economics Communication (EEC) system has been adopted by many countries. The E-numbers on the package describe the additives in the food. There are literally hundreds of E-numbers that could either be halaal or non-Halaal depending on the source of the raw material. They need to be investigated on a case-by-case basis to establish the Halaal/Haraam status. Please feel free to call SANHA with your query. Please Note : There are four E-numbers additives that always render the product Haraam. E 120 - Cochineal E 542 - Edible Bone Phosphate E 441 - Gelatine E 904 - Shellac |
