| [color=Red][sup]I have decided I am uncomfortable taking hijab off when I get to work so I left a message to my manager that I am now going to go ahead and wear the hijab since management has taken over 2 weeks to speak to me about their concerns. They can come speak to me when they feel they have time so I can explain to them why I am wearing it. I told my supervisor about it and she is supporting me even though I saw a moment of concern on her face for a split-second. My friends at work are so supportive of it and they were all telling me it looks very nice on me. I am glad I have so much support!! One la`y hugged me and told me she was so proud of me too :) Now, I just hope management doesn't try to stop me... [/sup][/color] |

| Thanks everyone :) a passenger asked me if he could compliment me so I told him yes.. and he told me, " You are obviously a Muslim and for you to be able to wear that (hijab) and work for an airlines at the airport in times like these is very wonderful and brave and you are handling it very well." That was so nice of him :) Seriously, though, I feel much more comfortable with the hijab than without it :) |

| [slm] Masha allah.. the compliment is a real delight to the ears :) I'm so happy that you chose working with hijab sister :) Sadly there are still some people who thinks hijab does not potray a good image for workers and they cannot work efficiently/comfortably with hijab on. Its just a piece of cloth, what ever damage can be done with it ??? Some years ago I know a bank who wouldnt let their tellers use hijab to work. Its okay to wear hijab if you work behind the counters but its a no no for those at the counters. Moreover these tellers who are not allow to cover are given monthly make-up allowances. I think its some kind of incentives to groom themselves for the sake of the bank image. Sound silly for an image??? I remember there were complaints made from sisters who wished to cover at work and one of the top managements ( a muslim lady who did not cover) answered something like this... they should have think about our rules and regulation before joining our bank... we are not islamic bank...if they wish to cover, they are free to join the islamic banks. How sad to hear this comment coming from a sister in islam :( Alhamdullillah I think the management has loosen the rules lately cause I have seen sisters wearing hijab working at the counters nowadays :-* [wlm] :-) |
