[POEM] Remember

Remember

When you're alone and feeling down,

Have faith in his remembrance, from a place deep within

When you fall over and hurt your knee,

His mercy falls upon you he forgives your sins

When the words of another bring you to tears,

He’s preparing their punishment to compensate the sting

Whenever you strive to pray on time,

He saves you a place right by his side

When the world turns away from you because of your faith,

Remember the reward, he's saved in his grace

EVERYTHING HAPPENS FOR A REASON

Sometimes people come into your life
And you know right away that they were meant to be there…
To serve some sort of purpose,
Teach you a lesson or help figure out who you are
Or who you want to become.
You never know who these people may be
But when you look into their eyes,
You know that every moment that you are with them,
They will affect your life in some profound way.
And sometimes things happen to you at the time
That may seem horrible, painful and unfair,
But in reflection you realize that
Without overcoming those obstacles
You would have never realized your potential, strength, will power or heart.

Everything happens for a reason!
Nothing happens by chance or by means of good luck.
Illness, injury, love, lost moments of true greatness and sheer stupidity,
All occur to test the limit of your soul.
Without these small tests,
Life would be light a smoothly paved, straight, flat road to nowhere,
Safe and comfortable,
But dull and utterly pointless.

The people you meet affect your life.
The successors and downfalls that you experience can create who you are,
And the bad experiences can be learned from…
In fact, they are probably the most poignant and important ones.
If someone hurts you, betrays you, or breaks your heart,
Forgive them because they have helped you learn about trust
And the importance of being cautious to whom you open your heart.
If someone loves you, loves them back unconditionally,
Not only because they love you,
But also because they are teaching you to love
And open your heart and eyes to little things.

MAKE EVERYDAY COUNT!
Appreciate every moment
And take from it everything that you possibly can,
For you may never be able to experience it again

Talk to people who you have never talked to before,
And actually listen.

Let yourself fall in love,
Even if it doesn’t seem right because you are too young or too far,
Just follow your heart.
Surround yourself with those who make you smile, laugh,
And make you happy.

Break free and set your sights high.
Hold your head up
Because you have every right to.
Tell yourself you are a great individual
And believe in yourself,
No one else will believe in you.
Create your own life then LET GO and LIVE IT!

Who wrote this poem?  I don't agree with the above portion, about letting oneself fall into love.  Even if it doesn't seem right? ???  I understand there are different kinds of love, but the love this poem appears to be talking about, should be directed towards one's spouse only.

Spoken like a true married man ;) I think it's talking about not setting your standards or expectations too exacting and you might find the right person. Should be the theme poem of the brothers in that thread in ikhwan eh ;)

Maybe it was directed to be...

Who knows the intention of the poets? They fool around with every possible meaning for a word  ;)

The best way to appreciate poetry, or say beauty, is to see it AS IT IS...
Like how the Legal Advisor in my organization told, while reviewing the poem 'Arabia in Flesh and Blood', 'it would not seem nice if we take the desert bushes to the monsoon state and plant it there nor would it fit the cocunut trees to be planted in the desert'.

peace.

Well, me think each stanza separately...

[quote]

I DISAGREE. This is quite a fancy way of interpreting things. Like they say, a 'filmi' stuff... I believe that *everyone* we meet are unique. I dont believe in the 'sudden' realization of the 'one meant to be'. Thats absurd. And the line, 'when you lookinto their eyes...' reinforces my rejection of this idea.

I AGREE. Behind every event in our life... from being late to office to meeting people in the way to having a bad day with a friend to sneezing and yawning... EVERYTHING is purposeful. If its a cloudy day or a foggy night... behind everything is a purpose. This is quite clear from the Quranic verses, 'WE did not create this world for play or sport'.

The world had a serious beginning and END as well.  And that is the beauty of Allah's wisdom. What we humans ignore is that in every moment of our life, we are being blessed and guided by Allah's Mercy. Some we relaize, some we overlook. Some are beyond our awareness. if we just recall the past few minutes of our life and wonder the role played by God- His Wisdom in setting the events- we will automatically say Subhanallah!

And the lines"Without these small tests,
Life would be light a smoothly paved, straight, flat road to nowhere" is something that retains my trust in God in times of distress.

This reminds me of an incident of a scholar. Someone came and asked him 'from whom will I learn good manners'. The scholar said 'Learn it from the devil'. The scholar later assured the surprised man, 'Abstain from whatever he does, and act whatever he dislikes'.

"If someone loves you, loves them back unconditionally,
Not only because they love you,
But also because they are teaching you to love"

That's a super-generous offer I suppose. :)

* MAKE EVERYDAY COUNT!

Yup. I agree with that. There is no concept 'Time-pass' in Islam

* Let yourself fall in love,
Even if it doesn’t seem right because you are too young or too far,
Just follow your heart.
Surround yourself with those who make you smile, laugh,
And make you happy.

NOW, I'd say this is quite an old poetic issue. Rumi calls "Just follow your heart" as following the imprints of ur heart. In other words, following your intuition.  But I wouldn't agree with 'Even if it doesn’t seem right' becoz that is belittling the god-gifted human understanding of things around us. Human beings are gifted witht the capacity of CHOICE. 'just following ur heart' makes the whole issue of ACCOUNTABILITY invalid. One cannot just FALL for anyone or anything.
There is nothing wrong in calling love is blind. But his or her blindness should be for the sake of His Pleasure.

*Tell yourself you are a great individual
And believe in yourself,

... AND WHY NOT?  Considering the Quranic verse, 'wa nafakhtu feehi MIN ROOHI"...

Having said all this, I do not have any idea of who the poet is nor to what creed he subscribes. Had this poem been written in a 'mystic mood', the poet may have another set of meanings in mind different from what I said above. The bottom line: Allah knows best- what runs on our nreves and what lies in our heart!
