Asalaamu Alaikum Madina Citizen  ;-)

Your mission this week, should you choose to accept it is to complete the following task:

1. Read Surah Al-Fatiha and time yourself in seconds the time it takes to recite it.

2. Add the digits of the number from 1 to form a single number.

3. Add the digits from the number of posts you currently have to form a single number.

4. Add the numbers from 2 and 3 to get a number.

5. Go to the Surah which you get from 4 and go to the verse which matches your birthday.

6. Attempt to link the verse of the Qur'an which you have found to the verses you first started with [ie Surah Al-Fatiha]

As always, should you, or any member of the Madina fail in your mission, the Madina will disavow all knowledge of your actions.

This post will self-destruct in five seconds. (or be moved to the ARK soon)
An example for clarification based on my timings:

1. 17 seconds

2. 1+7= 8

3. 3+0+0=3

4. 8+3= 11

5. 11:30

"And O my people! who would help me against God if I drove them away? Will ye not then take heed? [11:30]

6. The above verse is said by Nuh(as) when commanding his people to follow Allah and not the ways they had descended into. The opening chapter of the Qur'an also mentions people who deserved the anger of Allah and those people who had gone astray.

Deadline will be midnight EST Sunday 27 October and final results will be released shortly after.

[slm] I love this mission.. It's the coolest!!

Let me try it out

1. 40
2. 4
3. 7
4. 11
5. 11:19
"Those who would hinder (men) from the path of God and would seek in it something crooked: these were they who denied the Hereafter!"

6. In Surah Fatiha we ask Allah to guide us to the Siratul Mustaqeem, the Straight path and in 11:19 we see that there many obstacles to this Siratul Mustaqeem.  And thus those who seek other than this Straight tpath will be denied the Hellfire.

This one is cool!  8)

Okay, here goes:
1. 23
2. 5
3. 2
4. 7
5. 7:17 (the exact month and day, July 17th  :o)

Sura al'Araf this is Iblis (audhubillah) speaking, he has just asked Allah (swt) for respite until the Day of Judgement:

"Then I will come to them from before them and behind them, from their right and from their left, and You will not find most of them as thankful ones (i.e. they will not be dutiful to You)."

Wow. In the Fatihah we acknowledge Allah (swt) as the Master and Lord of all the worlds and of all creation. We also acknowledge Him as Master of the Day of Judgement. Iblis (audhubillah) is saying in this verse that he will not cease to come at us to prove that we are ungrateful, easy to lead astray, that we will be in error and that he will continue to confound us until the Last Day. We ask in the Fatiha to be kept on the straight path.

The sura continues to the end where we are reminded of some of the keys to success, the way to invite people to Islam and how the Angels worship Allah (swt)

201. Verily, those who are Al-Muttaqûn (the pious - see V.2:2), when an evil thought comes to them from Shaitân (Satan), they remember (Allâh), and (indeed) they then see (aright).

202.  But (as for) their brothers (the devils) they (i.e. the devils) plunge them deeper into error, and they never stop short.

203.  And if you do not bring them a miracle, they say: "Why have you not brought it?" Say: "I but follow what is revealed to me from my Lord. This (the Qur'ân) is nothing but evidences from your Lord, and a guidance and a mercy for a people who believe."

204.  So, when the Qur'ân is recited, listen to it, and be silent that you may receive mercy.

205.  And remember your Lord by your tongue and within yourself, humbly and with fear without loudness in words in the mornings, and in the afternoons and be not of those who are neglectful.

206.  Surely, those who are with your Lord (angels) are never too proud to perform acts of worship to Him, but they glorify His Praise and prostrate before Him.

Another great one!

As-salaamu 'alaikum wa rahmatullah,

1. Read Surah Al-Fatiha and time yourself in seconds the time it takes to recite it.
29 seconds

2. Add the digits of the number from 1 to form a single number.
2+9 = 11 [this is a "single number." but i'll assume u mean a single "digit" number...]
1+1 = 2

3. Add the digits from the number of posts you currently have to form a single number.
Just before this post, it was 147.
1+4+7 = 12
1+2 = 3

4. Add the numbers from 2 and 3 to get a number.
2+3 = 5

5. Go to the Surah which you get from 4 and go to the verse which matches your birthday.
5:30
Recite to them the truth of the story of the two sons of Adam. Behold! they each presented a sacrifice (to God): It was accepted from one, but not from the other. Said the latter: "Be sure I will slay thee." "Surely," said the former, "God doth accept of the sacrifice of those who are righteous.

6. Attempt to link the verse of the Qur'an which you have found to the verses you first started with [ie Surah Al-Fatiha]

In the last 2 verses of Surah Faatihah, Allah provides us with the ending of the du'aa:
"Show us the straight way,
The way of those on whom Thou hast bestowed Thy Grace, those whose (portion) is not wrath, and who go not astray. "

One of the sons of Adam was on the straight way (who remained steadfast despite his brother's threat to kill him), while the other had eventually succumbed to  killing him out of jealousy for him.
Allahu'Alim what his final fate was.

22:4 About the (Evil One) it is decreed that whoever turns to him for friendship, him will he lead astray, and he will guide him to the Penalty of the Fire.

Pretty amazing correlation!especially with ayats:

Show us the straight way,  The way of those on whom Thou hast bestowed Thy Grace, those whose (portion) is not wrath, and who go not astray.

The ayat 22:4- is pretty much what will happen if you don't let Allah swt guide you and you choose anyone else!

1. 32 seconds

2. 3+2 = 5

3. 517 posts --> 5+1+7 = 13 --> 1+3 = 4

4. 5+4 = 9

5. Surah 9, verse 13 Al-Tawbah - Repentance

Will you not fight a folk who broke their solemn pledges, and purposed to drive out the Messenger and did attack you first? What! Fear you them?  Now Allah has more right that you should fear Him, if you are believers.

oooh this is difficult...

I can link it firstly by saying that those who broke the treaty were not of "the straight path" and had indeed been "led astray".
But I prefer to link it by saying "Praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds, The Beneficient, the Merciful. Owner of the Day of Judgement. You alone do we worship; You alone we ask for help"
The last line of  9:13 tells us we should fear none but Allah. Indeed in Surah-al-Fatihah we are told that Allah is Lord of the worlds, Master of the Day of Judgement. Those whom we fear in this world were also created by Allah and will in turn be judged by him. Those whom we fear are nothing compared to the mighty Allah.
And the last section "if you are believers" is the ultimate link! The Surah-al-Fatihah is the creed of belief for the Muslim. It contains our whole relationship with Allah within its lines. And "if we are believers" then Surah-al-Fatihah should be engraved in our hearts.

Assalamu'alaikum :)

1. 49 sec

2. 4+9=13, 1+3=4

3. 2+3+9 =12, 1+2=3

4. 4+3=7

Surah Al-A'raf 7:23

They said: "Our Lord! We have wronged our own souls: If thou forgive us not and bestow not upon us Thy Mercy, we shall certainly be lost."

Guidance is from Allah, and only ALlah can give us guidance - the best gift a person can have. For only Allah, by His Mercy... can touch our hearts and open it.

When one seeks forgiveness (istighfar), it purifies one's hearts, for it gives birth to a realisation who one really is and who Allah truly is, or ... when one realises who Allah is, it gives birth to istighfar. This state of humility, will help a person to see clearly the signs of Allah and the guidance within those signs... as shown in the verse above.

Perhaps, that is why, in a hadith that is mentioned,  when we recite "To You we worship, and to You we seek for aid", in Al-Faatihah... ALlah will reply, that He will give whatever His servant asks for... and the next ayah reads,"Show us the straight path".

Upon retrospect... I feel these verses relate closely to each other as it indicates the humility and awareness of who we really are... which leads us to realise, what truly matters in this world => Guidance from Allah, The One who is full of Mercy and Beneficient.. whose name we begin with at the beginning of Al-Fatihah... and our every action and deed, inshaAllah.

For if such guidance do not reach us, one would be lost, for the signs of Allah can't be seen, and living, would have lost its meaning.

Show us the straight way,
The way of those on whom Thou hast bestowed Thy Grace, those whose (portion) is not wrath, and who go not astray.
~ Al-Faatihah 6-7

I hope I got this right...

1. 35

2. 3+5=8

3. 2+9+1=12 1+2=3

4. 8+3=11

5. 11:23

6. Lo! those who believe and do good works and humble themselves before their Lord: such are rightful owners of the Garden; they will abide therein. 11:23

In Surah AlFatihah we ask Allah to guide us to His straight path. This verse tells us that if we follow the straight path by doing good works and humbling ourselves to our Lord we will abide in Paradise forever. :) Ameen.

I know I'm late, but this is too cool to let go:

1. 52 seconds
2. 5+2 = 7
3. 3+8+5 = 1+6 = 7
4. 7+7 = 14
5. Surah 4, verse 11:

Allah (thus) directs you as regards your Children's (Inheritance): to the male, a portion equal to that of two females: if only daughters, two or more, their share is two-thirds of the inheritance; if only one, her share is a half. For parents, a sixth share of the inheritance to each, if the deceased left children; if no children, and the parents are the (only) heirs, the mother has a third; if the deceased Left brothers (or sisters) the mother has a sixth. (The distribution in all cases ('s) after the payment of legacies and debts. Ye know not whether your parents or your children are nearest to you in benefit. These are settled portions ordained by Allah; and Allah is All-knowing, Al-wise.

The ayah outlines the laws of inheritence for children and for parents, and warns us that these are settled portions ordained by Allah (awj).  We are to follow the ordainments of Allah (awj) and not those of our own whims, desires, and perceived "wisdoms."

In Surah al-Fatihah, Allah (swt) says:

"You alone do we worship" (or, to you alone do we fulfill our uboodiyyah).

Part of the fulfillment of one's uboodiyyah to Allah (swt) is to obey Him.  Uboodiyyah by definition is to make one's intent completely subservient to the intent of Allah (swt).  And this is what the ayah in Surah 4 asks of us.

Wallahu ta'ala a'lam.

Wassalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh.
