Ramadan Resolutions!!!!

as salaamu alaykum,

okay guys, what are some things you want to do to improve yourself this Ramadan?  I think it'd be nice if we started a thread about our hopes and resolutions, and at the end of the month look back and see what we accomplished :)

InshaAllah three things I'd really like to do:

* memorize the names of Allah
* control my tongue BIG TIME
* be super good to my family

wasalaamu alaykum :-)

**Keep a check on my intentions.
**Educate my co-workers about Ramadan and he he put a Ramadan Mubarak banner at my work.
**Watch my tongue.

Insha'Allah i'll add some more :)
P.S I like the one about being super nice to the fam!!!

I am sooo glad Ramadan is coming!

Inshallah my resolutions are to:
- read Quran everyday, and try to finish it by the end of Ramadan
- not arguing and being patient with my sibilings
- NOT watching ANY tv or listening to music
- giving as much dawah on Ramadan
- doing alot of praying and duas
- and last but not least, not saying bad things (controlling my tongue!!)

Good idea se7en.

My three resolutions are:
1) Go to Umrah.
2) Go to Umrah.
3) Go to Umrah.  :)

Honestly though, my resolution is to inshallah go for Umrah in the middle third of Ramadan and not only make the most of it, but to meet the challenge of the spiritual letdown after returning and continue to spiritually accelerate so that the last third of the month actually surpasses the middle third.

Masha'allah!  excellent resolution!

I gave up music last Ramadan and succeeded, TV I completely stopped watching about 2 months ago.  But now, my resolution is:

*Not to stay up late on the computer surfing the net*

This causes me to miss Fajr sometimes, staying up till 1-2 AM reading websites and downloading lectures and such.

Insha'allah everyone will stick to their resolutions AFTER Ramadan!

Salam,

<<- not arguing and being patient with my sibilings>>

-Yes, this is my greatest challenge. Hopefully, by the end of Ramadan I will learn to be more patient with my siblings.

-Also I'm gonna try to encourage my little brother to fast for real this Ramadan. Last Ramadan he succeeded only in fasting from fasting.

Those are just a couple from the many other things I hope improve/achieve this Ramadan.

salam,

merimda

Does that mean you are doing Umrah 3 times? ;-)

I think we need to sit down and write a thesis on this phenomena one day!!

Assalamu'alaikum :-)

InshaAllah, here are my resolutions:

1) Finish memorising Juz Amma
2) Complete reciting the Qur'an in English and Arabic

I really hope to feel the sweetness of Ramadhan this year... the kind of sweetness that will have its remnants felt throughout the year. The sweetness that will mould me to be a better person in the eyes of Allah.. a lasting change that I see in myself, inshaAllah.

And...I hope to receive Lailatul Qadr... Ameen.

Resolutions for this Ramadhan :

1) To perform the maximumest number of tarawih prayers  :-*

2) To continue be strong travelling to and fro Singapore and Malaysia in my fasting condition

3) To harness all the faculties Allah has given me to perform my very best as His servant in all my undertakings.

To all these above, Insya'Allah.

May this Ramadhan see all the Muslims in this world blessed and protected by Allah SWT and may we be given the ease to practice our Deen in the best possible manner, Amin.

Kind of like a 30 day all-nighter.  I get so nervous before Ramadan approaches.  Just want to make the best of it, inshaAllah.  I only have one goal...and that is to make sure no moment passes without it being in the form of an Ibadah.  Basically, doing everything with the right intention.  InshaAllah.  (Which hopefully means, cutting back on net time)

Ramadan Mubarak to all of you.

Wasalaam.

slm,

This will be my first time working/being married/taking care of a home during Ramadan and Insha'Allah, I hope that Allah (SWT) gives me the strength to do it all, and still benefit from this blessed month.

For those of you who live with your families, and are lucky enough to come home to a wonderful iftaar and dinner waiting for you--don't take it for granted :)  Make a great big dua for your parents!

I miss my mommy :(

Ramadan Mubarak to you all :)
Salam!

[slm] brothers and sisters.
Sis Barr, alhamdullilah, and ameen.
My resolutions are, inshaAllah
- to finish memorizing juz amma
- to attend as many congragational prayers as possible
- to put down my transliterated English Qur'ans and pick up the all-Arabic ones
- to trust even more in Allah and seek His favor and blessings with all that I do
- to dhikr more. It is worship  that I have increased recently, and pray to continue and increase it even more.
- To capture the feeling I remember from my first Ramadan. I did cry when it was over. To quote Sis Barr again, to feel that sweetness!
Ramadan Mubarak! :-*

I plan on (insha allah)

Reading my Qur'an completely and mostly in Arabic

Kicking my nasty, expensive and dangerous smoking habit

Watching my tounge

Watching my actions

Increasing my iman (If I can, but it is completely up to Allah)

And coming out of my somewhat shy shell.

My Ramadan resolutions:

****control my tongue--oh, its amazing how much I now notice how bad my mouth can get since I have converted to Islam and had to think about the words I choose to speak... ****

****control my temper--especially at work when a passengers (I work at the ticket counter for Frontier Airlines) get irate towards me or something like that****

****read the Qur'an--study study study it!!  I must admit, I was neglecting my Qur'anic studies there for a while now... :( ****

****memorize all the 5 daily prayers in English first, and then hopefully in Arabic by the end of Ramadan (right now I have to hold notes in my hand) and a few surahs too.  It amazing to know that people out there have memorized the Qur'an and I so far have only memorized Surah-Fatihah!! ****

****to complete the Ramadan fast in good spirits as a Muslimah for the first time!!  I fasted a few years with some Muslim friends of mine but it was only food and drink.  I did not fast from using bad language, thinking and talking about bad things... etc...  going to clubs to go dancing... but, I did get through them and it has prepared me!!  I now know there is so much more to the Ramadan fasting than just refraining from food and drink

May Allah bring peace and joy to us during Ramadan!!
