This morning I was just looking over some emails from my friends, and I came across this beautiful piece in one of them from an awesome friend that I had to share with you all.   :)

-== this day ==-

Not one day in anyone's life is an uneventful day.
There's no day without profound meaning, no matter how
boring and lame it may seem, because in every day of
one's life there are opportunities to perform khayr,
both by conscious acts of will and unconscious
example.  Each small act of khayr - even if it's just
speaking well of someone, smiling at your
brother/sister, making dua for someone - reverberates
across huuge distances and time, affecting lives and
things unknown to the one who was the source of this
echo of khayr.  So much so that a simple act of
goodness, something that took so little effort to
commit, becomes a significant act years later and far
away - becomes the driving force behind someone's
bravery in the battlefield, patience in time of
adversity, or gratitude in a time of baraka.

And in the same way, each small meanness, each little
sharr, each thoughtless expression of hatred, each
envious or bitter or petty or sinful act, regardless
of how minor, can inspire others to do wrong.  Each
little act is a seed that ultimately produces evil
fruit, poisioning people you've never met nor ever
will.

All human lives are so profoundly connected, so
intricately intwined. SubhanAllah.  Those dead, those
living, those generations yet to come  - the fate of
one lies so intimately connected to the fate of
another.  Each small deed we commit carries
consequences we can hardly fathom.

so every time we fail in this struggle for good, we
need to strive for success in the next jihad.
Everytime we commit an evil deed, no matter how
shameful, we need to blot it out with khayr.  With the
end of one part of our lives, with that feeling of
despair and frustration, we need to build something
new and better from those ashes.  From pain and grief
we must weave strength, steadfastness, and sabr.

If we really think about things, I mean *really* - we
realize that every hour of our lives contains so much
-often unrecognized-  potential.  Those days, those
truly awesomely significant days for which we in our
dissatisfaction so often yearn - are already here.
All great days and amazing possibilities are combined
in *this* hugely momentous day, this one we're living
in right now.  So we just need to go out there and
make the most of it.  InshaAllah.
