| [slm] Where's a good place to purchase a domain name and also that deals with webhosting? I'm not really sure abt the steps to buying and hosting the domain name... and also hosting the site....is that two separate things? I heard something abt DNS server..hosting....etc...what's that? ??? kinda confused jazakallah Wassalam |

| Hmm depends what you want to host Sis An, if its a site like Jannahs then you'll need plenty of bandwith or an agreement with a provider to provide you as much as bandiwth as possible without any charges and the package needs to support a number of facilities for example, email, chi support, ftp, space, custom error pages etc etc. When you buy the domian name you can also ask it to be hosted by the same company or if you find a better deal then you can simply move on to another web host and take your name with you. DNS means Domain Name System, its used to translate IP address to domain names, for example every domain name has an IP address to itself,they are all unique. So instead of typing in 62.45.23.29/index.html you'd type in jannah.org which is alot easier to remember. | [slm] Thanks Bro. So that's what DNS all about :) My site won't need any e-mail, etc. It'll be pretty simple..it'll probably have some animations (flash), not too big though. I'd like to buy a reasonably priced (not so expensive) domain name. Who's in charge with domain names actually? Should I buy directly from them or find a local company that resell domain names?
