hurting a poor person's feelings
Driven

Well..I made a grave error today, on my insistence, we just threw out this Christian driver of ours. Nobody in the family was fond of him but he was still kept because he was in debt to us.
In the past he had spread a lot of stuff about me s0o I never liked him and wanted my family to get rid of him quick..but it all happened so soon today. (He was quite rude today to my aunt and that brought back feelings of hatred to me.) They say they came under my 'pressure' and decided to fire him once and for all on the spot.
Now I feel bad...real guilty, and it was all my fault. God knows he must have wished us all ill..and I'm sure that God is not happy with me for hurting a poor person's feelings. How do I repent? I gave sadqa, said Astagfirullah and probably will say 2 nalfs for forgiveness. Will He forgive me? c0z I don't want to end up in Hell.
Plz answer.

Salam alaikum,
I felt the same way as you do when I had our houseworker fired.. guilty, guilty, guilty! After a short time I got over it and remembered why I didn't want her here. Alhamdulilah, I feel better and have less stress with her not here. I gave her some extra money so I wouldnt feel as bad.

Just ask Allah to forgive you if you did anything wrong, Allah forgives all sins until the death reaches the throat or the sun rises from the opposite direction.  I really dont think you will go to hell for what you did.  :) Allah is the Most Merciful, The Most Forgiving, The One who accepts repentance.

Take care..

He is staff. He is not doing his job properly. He was given a couple of chances. He did not work properly after all.

Why feel guilty for letting him go? Who ever takes his place may be much more in need and deserving!

Hmm yeah I'm well aware that he's staff but he is after all a human being and Allah doesn't like us to treat anybody badly regardless of what status they may have..but yeah I understand what you're talking about kathy. :)

It's just that I feel bad c0z I forced them literally to kick him out. I suppose I'm just a little too sensitive for my own good but oh well I'm doing all right n0w..and for sure somebody better will come around!! heh.
And as a disclaimer, my family's happier n0w that he's gone and that kinda made my conscience feel more at ease.

Reciter: Umm yeah i'd like to be able to apologize to him but the thing is, he doesn't know I was behind it all and it's best to keep it that way. Anyway seeking Allah's forgiveness is good enough for me.
:)
