| slm, Insha'Allah I hope everyone is doing well. I was wondering if anyone could tell me of any good volunteer abroad orgnaizations. I've been to a lot of websites, but I'm not sure what to trust. So if anyone has first hand experience with any--that would be great!! Or even if any of you know people who have volunteered abroad through some organization..I'd love to hear about it. By volunteer aborad, I basically mean any type of volunteer work regarding development, teaching etc. Peace Corps is cool..but its a two year committment. Also, I'd prefer to go with an Islamic organization, simply because I feel the environment may be more comfortable for a Muslim woman. (ie--no group housing etc.) I would be with my husband, Insha'Allah, but I know that most organizations would not assume that I'd be uncomfortable staying in temporary group housing if necessary. Anyways, it doesn't have to be an Islamic organization, but anything reputable, Insha'Allah.. Thanks in advance!! Wassalam, Nazia |

| As-salaamu 'alaikum wa rahmatullah, Nazia I have a friend who's researched this a bit, insha'Allah I'll try to post it here later this week. In the meantime, the best place to ask, my guess, would be charities (here or abroad). They usually know of volunteer opps., whether through their own org or others. |

| Salaams, It depends where you are baased and which country your from. Here in the UK we've got a few orgs doing some work have you tried Muslim Directory ???. Anyways, I'd be interested in how you get on., I've got a few bros and sisters wanting to try something similiar from the UK, it'd be great if we could all work together. Salaams Hanif |

| Assalamu alaikum, Maybe you could contact Islamic Relief [url]www.islamic-relief.com[/url]. I think they have people in different countries, but I'm not sure if they recruit people to travel to those countries or work with people already on site. Perhaps you can contact them and ask, and maybe if they don't have anything they can refer you to another organization. |
