| As Salamu Alykum, All praise belongs to ALLAH swt who gave me the ability to post finally. At first I will really like to appriciate the hardwork done by the ppl on this site. I have been following this site for a while may be one year now. Some time I would just come to the homepage and see the entry page. It has pleased me and clamed me time to time. Thanks to all the wonderful ppl here. I donno all of the nicks but these are quite familiar -- jannah, bhaloo, princes.... Anyways, now let me ask u something.. I have been reading abt the consent of a wali for the validity of the marriage. Till today the only opinion I found was that a marriage is not valid without the consent of a wali. I had read this in places like www.islam-qa.com . But today while surfing through this site - http://islam.tc/ask-imam/view.php?q=6693 I found out that this mufti from South Africa is saying a marriage can be valid w/o walis consent if both of the candidates are adult. I am confused :'(, I didn't know Shayks shares different views in this matter.. I tried to read abt the shayks background seems a good one. If any of you guys have ever come across opinion like this let me know.. I want to know more abt it out of curiosity.. Thanks... And Eid mubarak to all. May ALLAH gives us the ability to keep the essence of Ramadan in our life. |

| [slm] I beleive that the Hanafi madhab allows the marriage of any sane, adult woman without consulting a wali. I'll try to find more information on this, in sha'a allah. [wlm] |
