Muslim Miss World

Asalam-alaykum

Last week, Miss Turkey, A Muslim, Won Miss World!!

Who do the sisters feel about this? I have read articles and heard kaafir men say this should be a wake up call to the worlds muslim women as to what they are missing out on, saying she is now the worlds first liberated muslim woman. Is she? Or is she simply fulfilling the desire of certain men by being thier "Eye Candy"

Perosnally i was sad to see a muslim sister lower herself to these levels to win a degrading beauty contests. My personal opinion is this is no different to a dog show, people parade thier dogs around, get judges to look at them and judge their looks and place them in order of preference. The only difference is they have replaced the dogs with Women.  :o

Will this Turkish lady be a role model for muslim women? Did she simply win this/be given this win, as part of the anti-islaamic drive in the media and through business corporations to turn muslims away from islaam and adopt western values? Is she the first of many? Is she the first example for other muslim women to follow?

Sis I could not agree wid u more . I get so angry wid these women who display their bodies like "a dog show" ........in my country last yr a muslim woman represented at the Miss universe . !!! There was a huge outcry from the muslim population but it did not help. She indicated ( and this is a perfect eg of "if u keep ur mouth shut ppl would think u r intelligent" ) anyways she stated that she represented the modernist islam??? ??? and we must "change with the times"(.astgfirullah) ..and she is a liberated woman   !!!!!

Its is a sad time when women feel they have to expose their bodies to feel liberated and allow men (or other women) ::) ! to lust at them to boost their self esteem & confidence . !! :o

I think muslim women who do that are an embarrasment to themselves and a shame to society .  >:( >:(    (in fact any women who does that )!!

And Miss turkey ,,,,,well i think that win is politically motivated .......as u said ...."to turn muslims away from islaam and adopt western values".

Take care sis and I pray that allah increases our iman and help us to attain the strength and iman of the early muslim women .

Wassalam

interesting topic sis.  hmmmmm, what do i think?  On one hand i dont want to concern myself with some muslim woman who chooses to take part in these things.  she can do as she pleases (in this life anyway) and should left to it.

the part that does worry me tho' is the 'modernist Islam' philosophy that she and others spout.  It's nothing but nonsense.  They are like wolfs in sheep's clothing, trying to lull the muslim population into thinking that they are doing nothing wrong just 'moving with the times'.  However, they are ones who are eroding the muslim values till there is no difference between muslims and kafirs.

The contest is glorified dog show and nothing more.

This is where we have to start knowing the difference between muslim by background (not the real kind) or muslim by choice and conviction.

Do we think Turkey is a muslim country? Its so sad, the state of that place, it makes me cry.  It is an anti-muslim country, the worst of them because it rejects Islam, while it itself was the site of the last khailafah in 1923.

The government officials have muslim names but are all Rotarians, Masons, etc. etc.  That means kuffar, non-believers, in fact, many are born into Islam, raise dmuslim, and then leave, meaning apostates.

Do you think a woman going up liek that can call herself "muslim"?  Maybe.  Allahu Alam.  I just know that I wouldn't think that if I saw it.  And a woman who claims to be changing Islam?  That is so un-Islamic, its not in the fold of Islam.  Like i said, I will not sya who has imaan and who doesn't, I am not here to judge, but to discern.  We should disassociate these types of people from being even called muslims and stop counting them as people of Allah SWT who go do that stuff.  Don't lament and cry or get angry that a "muslim" is doing this.  Because when you go in front of the world and try to project your version of Islam, or just because you have a muslim name froma formerly muslim country, doesn't mean you are a muslim.  Perhaps I am angry, or sad, to say this.  Sad I think.  No, just numb.  Allah forgive me if I was wrong (I find myself saying that quite often now).

First off, I too am very disappointed and very saddened by the state of Turkey at this present time. The worst thing is seeing my own country in this state, subhanAllah....Believe me, what you see from the outside is nothing compared to the news that I hear from the inside......I pray to Allah that He guides those whom He wills, and helps change the state of Turkey, if He wills, ameen.....

There is one good thing about the recent elections...the majority party, AKP, that has taken over Parliament is alhamdulillah not like the former.  They are trying to rebuild Turkey as an Islamic nation and InshaAllah will become a better nation.  Plz make dua'a for Turkey and for other nations that have messed up governments and that InshaAllah if Allah wills, their states will change.

I couldn't agree more with some of the comments you guys made but I have a comment on "modernist Islam". It is completely wrong yeah but the way I see it is like this- anything that broadcasts Islam is a good thing even if it's portrayed in a bad light. Look at what has happened with 9 -11. With all the lies that have been spread about Islam and Muslims, many people have become curious about us and have sought to learn more. Many have converted. So, even if Miss Turkey or whatever she is gave us a bad and/ false image, the words ISLAM and MUSLIM is being drilled into the minds of all watching. Who knows where that might lead. It reminds me of the ayah that generally states that if there is something we dislike Allah (swt) may make it a source of khair for us.

It is said that, like dandruff, most people do have a religion (be it secular
Christianity, atheism, etc) and spend time and money on it and seem to derive considerable pleasure
from fiddling with it.  Then there are those who try to corner the market, the more
intelligent of whom have discovered that the only genuine, unadulterated and tamper-free
product is Islam.  They have also discovered that the Owner isn't selling, modifying, or
sharing it any time soon, so they opt for the method of attacking it rather than advocating
themselves.

No matter, Allah will sort it out.  All we have to do is make sure that we're not among
the idiots who don't read the instructions properly, make a hash of things and then blame
the product...
