It would be clear if you provided us with the context but I'll take a guess here.

I THINK, the author is refering to the notion that this universe is comprised of objects. Whatever that exists is an object, irrespective of it's nature. As a muslim we would interprete it as all the creations of Allah, other than Allah.

I'm not sure about the maths, but philosophically, this is a fascinating question.

Starting with the word "straight"  What does it really mean?

According to the dictionary it means: Without bend or curve, extending in one direction, right or correct, honest, level, straight from the source, undiluted, presenting no complications, logical etc, etc, etc.  (a whole page of etc.'s)

We could all argue with the meanings of these definitions for hours, weeks days on end.  I guess there is no real answer.

Only Allah knows what is straight, what is right, which direction is correct, what the source is and so on.

We just have to put our trust in Allah to show us "The Straight Path."

As for perfection ......  Allahu Alam
