Anyone hear any details about a character in the new films being called "Allah". Its listed on this webpage: http://www.imdb.com/.  If so very sad to hear... Hopefully Muslims won't be emotional and we can protest this in a civilized fashion...

as salaamu alaykum,

from the latest CAIR newsbrief 12/16/02:

WARNER BROS. SAYS NO "ALLAH" CHARACTER IN "MATRIX RELOADED"

CAIR has received a number of e-mails from concerned Muslims who were
informed that the new Warner Bros. Pictures film "Matrix Reloaded" has a
character called "Allah."

SEE: (http://whatisthematrix.warnerbros.com/)

After being contacted by CAIR, Warner Bros. officials say there is not, and
never has been such a character in the film, despite what is being reported
on movie-related web sites.

I have to say I'm really relieved to hear that. Matrix is one of my all-time favorite movie since I'm a real computer animation buff and i would have been really disappointed if I couldn't watch the sequel (/prequel).

Gosh that movie rocked.  If only I could do that funky nearly-falling-over-backward move...then I'd REALLY be theOriginal (in reference to the origination of my nick)...

by the way, I don't know if this has been discussed previously, but did you guys hear about the new line of action heros that were being marketed...the figures were based on "different gods" (Na'oodhubillah)... For example, they had "Jesus Christ" armed with a cross....

For "Allah" they had a black box with a lock on it and a sign underneath it that read "for the one that must not be shown."

It was shocking but kind of amusing at the same time...then again,  I have a whacked sense of humor.

Wasalaam.

Ooops.. you're right .. there was a rumour going around at the beginning, but now it's confirmed that both movies are sequels to be released within a short duration of each other.

I just read that thread you linked to and wow.. i'm amazed that I'm not the only one who found deep meanings in that movie! Intentionally or otherwise, there was a lot of symbolism involved. And what a coincidence that my FAVOURITE line of the movie was "there is no spoon"!

Hehehe.. I remember I was an undergrad back then and used to play a lot of "competitive" fooseball in the dorm basement. I usually got thrashed because I used to freeze with one/two goals to make. After watching that movie for the n'th time, I remember with 1 goal to go in a tense game and going like "there is no spoon" before shootin' in the winner! I didn't lose a single game after that :)
