When memories ring aloud...

...The late-goers hurried their pace
'coz they were worried to see the Ustad's angry face

In his hand was a cane
Strong enough to make their courage drain.

But in this system was a gain
That whatever learnt through this
Remained in their heart's mine.

Dear One!
My memories are ringing aloud
When I recall that iron rod
Hit on the metal board

That metallic sound was a sign
Of Madrassa's end.
And very soon...
In the home-made cover
The Mushaf was bound

From classes one to seven
Everyone began to sing in chorus as soon
As the command was given
Ten times would the Cool Breeze flow from the Children
A hundred blessings would come in return from the Heaven

Dear One!
Such is the beauty of my Watan
Seen by those that have a heart within.

Iron rod hit on the metal board: This was how the end of the madrassa  was  announced. This was the bell in those days of childhood.

Wow. The shahada is brimming with some talent mashallah! You, se7en, lightningatnight and bum by day, Mystic and that anon guy who wrote the poem about bismillah...all wonderful stuff.

Jaihoon, your poem took me back to 4th grade in pakistan. :)

dear Brother, you have spoken the inner secret of my heart shhhhhh!
In the world of DotHeart, not everything is to be pronounced... for there are elements that are going to get me denounced. :)

As Rumi says

"hush! Henceforth i will bury this topic. Speak no more!"

Such a 'time travel' is the aim of every poet, small or big. The fourth-grade situation of mine in India is what I exactly had in mind and wished to remind others who experienced it :)

Jazakum Allah khair. May Allah give us all the capacity to write about 'good-old-days' and appreciate them in 'golden ways'. aaameen.
