assalam-o-alikoum

i have another question and it's about adoption. I was wondering if anyone of you could provide me with the hadiths that says we can't adopt kids? i don't need the proof but just wanna read it for knowledge.

and also i wanna kno if let's say as an example your aunt/brother/sister/cousin dies, allah forbid, and you take their kids in your care but you don't become their mom, just like their elder sister or aunt. and your husband becomes their elder brother or uncle. you become their like guardian. is that considered adoption? i don't think it is but what do u guys think?

don't worry this isn't happening to me, i'm only 17... way too young...but i just wanted to kno

jazakallah khair

Taking care of the orphans is something that is *extremely* encouraged in the Qur'an.  There are great rewards for the one who takes care of the orphans, and severe punishments for those who are abusive towards them or take abuse their rights.

What is prohibited in Islam is to give someone else's child your name.  The child should go by the name of his/her original (biological) father, and it should be understood that he/she is NOT the biological child of the adopted parents.  But raising them as you raise your own son/daughter is something for which there is great reward.

Wallahu a'lam.

there are no hadiths that say we cont apodt children....

just like arsalan mentioned, its encouraged...

also to add to what arsalan said, you cannot change their name and they cannot recieve inheritence from you when they die...
