Islamic medicine books?

Assalaamu alaikum,

Can anyone recommend a good book on Islamic medicine and remedies? The book should say something about the authenticity of the remedies it presents. This is important. Other things I am looking for are comprehensiveness (covers a broad range of illnesses), conciseness (shouldn't have pages and pages of discussion; easy to read and follow), and discussion on what modern day medical science says about it.

Islamicbookstore.com has several books listed. The Medicine of the Prophet by Ibn Qayyim looks good. Anyone has read this? It is fairly big and expensive though.

Any feedback is welcome. Jazaakallah khayr.

Wasalaam.

I have it, and I admit I haven't read it all, but its very good.  I do have the expensive one, the $29.95 one translated by Penelope Johnson.  There is another translation (that happens to be the same size) that came out before her translation, its $14.24 at TalkIslam.

In general I have found things to be cheaper at TalkIslam, and have started to shop there.

As salamu alaykum

I have Healing with the Medicine of the Prophet by Imam Ibn Qayyim Al-Jauziyah.  The translation is by Jalal Abual Rub.  Al hamdu lillah I have found the book to be very useful.

As salamu alaykum
