In the past many Prophets have fought, in the way
of Allah, with a large number of godly people. They
did not loose heart during the adversities that befell
them in the path of Allah; they neither showed
weakness nor submitted to falsehood. Allah loves
the steadfast.(3.146)

The exception is for those people who are
steadfast and do good deeds; they are the
ones who will have forgiveness and a great
reward. (11.11)

Allah replied: "Your prayer shall be answered! So
remain steadfast and do not follow the path of
those who have no knowledge."(10.89)

Narrated Hudhayfah ibn al-Yaman
People used to ask the Messenger of Allah (peace be
upon him) about the good times, but I used to ask him
about the bad times fearing lest they should overtake
me. I said: Messenger of Allah, we were in the midst of
ignorance and evil, and then God brought us this good
(time through Islam). Is there any bad time after this
good one? He said: Yes. I asked: Will there be a good
time again after that bad time? He said: Yes, but in it will
be a hidden evil. I asked: What will be the evil hidden
therein? He said: (That time will witness the rise of) the
people who will adopt ways other than mine and seek
guidance other than mine. You will know good points as
well as bad points. I asked: Will there be a bad time
after this good one? He said: Yes. (A time will come)
when there will be people standing and inviting at the
gates of Hell. Whoever responds to their call will be
thrown into the fire. I said: Messenger of Allah, describe
them to us. He said: All right. They will be a people
having the same complexion as ours and speaking our
language. I said: Messenger of Allah, what do you
suggest if I happen to live at that time? He said: You
should stay with the main body of the Muslims and
their leader. I said: If they have no (such thing as the)
main body and have no leader? He said: Separate
yourself from all these factions, though you may have to
eat the roots of trees (in a jungle) until death comes to
you when you are in this state. (muslim)

There is a hadith which i cant find but as far as i remember uts states that the prophet reportedly said islam came as a stranger and will return as a stranger so give glad tidings to those strangers.

We are like strangers now.Anyone trying to follow the path the rasul(saw) showed us is a stranger. They are called names and humiliated. We should be steadfast ans remember to Allah we will return and He is the most Powerful the All-Mighty.

May Allah guides us all.

Hope these are helpful insha-Allah:

Supplication for anxiety and sorrow:

O Allah, I am Your servant, son of Your servant, son of Your maidservant, my forelock is in Your hand, Your command over me is forever executed and Your decree over me is just. I ask by every name belonging to You which You named Yourself with, or revealed in Your Book, or You taught to any of Your creation, or You have preserved in Your knowledge of the unseen with You, that You make the Quran the life of my heart and the light of my breast, and a departure for my sorrow and a release for my anxiety.

Supplication for one in distress:

None has the right to be worshipped except Allah Forbearing. None has the right to be worshipped except Allah, Lord of the magnificent throne. None has the right to be worshipped except Allah, Lord of the heavens, Lord of the Earth, and Lord of the noble throne.

or

O Allah, it is Your mercy that I hope for, so do not leave me in charge of my affairs even for a blink of an eye and rectify for me all my affairs. None has the right to be worshipped except You.

or

None has the right to be worshipped except You. How perfect You are, verily I was among the wrong doers.

Supplication for one whose affairs have become difficult:

O Allah, there is no ease except in that which You have made easy, and You make the difficulty, if You wish, easy.

Assalamu Alaikum

i am not sure if this will help, but inshallah.

Abu Hurayrah (Radhiallahu `anhu) reported that the Prophet (Sallallahu `Alayhi Wa Sallam) said:
" Whenever Allah wills good for a person, He subjects him to adversity" [Bukharee and others]

'Aishah (Radhiallahu `anha) narrated that once some pain afflicted the Prophet (Sallallahu `Alayhi Wa Sallam) causing him to suffer and turn about in his bed. she said: "Had one of us done this, you would have blamed him." He (Sallallahu `Alayhi Wa Sallam) replied:
"An ailment is intensified for the righteous. Whenever a believer is afflicted by a hardship, whether it is a thorn or more, a sin is taken off from him because of it, and he is elevated by one rank (in Jannah). " [Ahmad]

Abu Moosa Al-Ash'aree narrated that the Prophet (Sallallahu `Alayhi Wa Sallam) said:

"For a travelling or sick person, his deeds will be recorded in accordance with what he used to do when he was resident or well." [Bukharee]

Abu Hurayrah (Radhiallahu `anhu) reported that the Prophet (Sallallahu `Alayhi Wa Sallam) said:
"Whenever a Muslim is afflicted by harm from sickness or other matters, Allah will drop his sins because of that, like a tree drops its leaves." [Bukharee and Muslim]

Abu Sa'eed al-Khudree (Radhiallahu `anhu) reported that the Prophet (Sallallahu `Alayhi Wa Sallam) said:
"A muslim is not afflicted by hardship, sickness, sadness, worry, harm, or depression - even if pricked by a thorn, but Allah expiates his sins because of that." [Bukharee and Muslim]

Sa'd (Radhiallahu `anhu) reporeted that the Prophet (Sallallahu `Alayhi Wa Sallam) said:
"The most in their suffering among the people are the prophets, then the best, then the (next) best. One is afflicted in accordance with his deen (faith). If his deen is firm his affliction is hard, and if his deen is weak, his affliction is light. Indeed, one would be so much subjected to adversity until he walks among the people without any sins. " [Ahmad, Tirmithee]

Sa'eed said, "I was with Salmaan (Radhiallahu `anhu) when he visited a sick man in Kindah (in Persia), and he said to him: 'Expect good because Allah (SubHanahu Wa Ta`ala) makes a believer's sickness an expiation (for his sins) and a period of rest. However, when a disbeliever falls sick, he is like a camel whose owner ties it then lets it loose - it does not understand why it was tied nor why it was freed.'" [Bukharee]

Anas (Radhiallahu `anhu) reported that the Prophet (Sallallahu `Alayhi Wa Sallam) said:
"When Allah wills good for a servant of His, He expedites his punishment in this life; and when He wills retribution for a servant of His, He holds his sins for Him to judge him by them on the Day of Resurrection." [Tirmithee]

The more we suffer in patience, the more rewards we get Inshallah, and the higher you can get in Jannah,Inshallah.

AWW,

Hmm, sometimes its quite hard for one to take a certain cause of action, because all avenues or channels seem to be clouded or blocked. It can feel quite stressful and everything seems to be going wrong or against you even the smallest of actions.

I don't know personally about your own situation brother/sister. But really there is only one person who can help yo in your adversity and thats Allah. Others can give you limited help, or they may be a means to your help but in the end the answer lies only to turning to Allah.

It may be a test that you are going through for Allah tests each of his servants accordingly as in the verse of the Quran states,
AL BAQARAH (2:286)

Allah tasketh not a soul beyond its scope. For it (is only) that which it hath earned, and against it (only) that which it hath deserved. Our Lord! Condemn us not if we forget, or miss the mark! Our Lord! Lay not on us such a burden as thou didst lay on those before us! Our Lord! Impose not on us that which we have not the strength to bear! Pardon us, absolve us and have mercy on us, Thou, our Protector, and give us victory over the disbelieving folk.

Also in the hadith where it says "more severe of people ton be put to trial are Prophets, then the righteous, and then the likes" And said: "A man is put to trial accordingly to the strength of his religion. If he was strong in religion, his trial is increased."

Now if you also look at the lives of the prophets(peace be upon them all) they had trials and tests as well. A beautiful story is about Hazrat Ayub Alayhis Salaam and his illness. In short, before his illness he had wealth, family, cattle  and land, however he had such a disease that was so severe that everyone left him about from his faithful wife. His illness affected every part of his body apart from his tongue and his heart. Some narrations say that he was in this illness for seven years, however, Hazrat Ayub Alayhis salaam(may Allah bless him and his wife) remained faithful to Allah, by remembering him even in when he was in utmost pain.

Although one may have seen the physical exterior of Hazrat Ayub as one of distress and discomfort, his heart was in the opposite context, one which was full of light and wisdom and always gloryfying in the rememberence of Allah. By Hazrat Ayub Alayhis salaam(may Allah bless him and his wife) being patient he passed through this trial or test that was set upon him. He was cured and Allah gave him more wealth, land and family.

In short, whatever affects us today, Allah is surely aware of it and if you remain patient, indeed Allah will give you a reward in the hearafter.

My advice is to start the rememberence of Allah, start to pray the kalimah, as when one prays the kalimah you will find peace in your heart. Stay away from sins and start to pray nafal namaz, salatul hazat to help you in your condition. And thirdly, make dua It is said in a hadith "Dua is the best weapon for a believer". Make dua to Allah to guide you through the tough times.

And lastly, hang around with people who remind you of Allah and are your sincere friends, you could also register here and perhaps talk to any of the bros or sisters.

Hope my advice helps me first and to all others, mistakes are mine through the whisperings of Shaitan and all good is from Allah.

Salaams

Here are some supplications in times of distress:

There is no God but Allah, the Lord of Magnificent Throne. THere is no God except Allah, Lord of the Heavens, and Lord of the Earth and Lord of glorious Throne.
Footnote: When the Prophet [saw] was in state of disquiet and anxiety, he would say these words of Divine praise. (Ibn 'Abbas, Bukhari)

or

O Thou Self-Subsisting and Eternal! For Thy mercy do I appeal,
Footnote: When the Prophet [saw] ws overwhelmed with anxiety or restlessness, he would entreat Allah's help with these words. (Anas, Tirmidhi)

or

O Allah! for Thy Mercy do I hope. So leave me not to myself (even) for an instant, and set right for me all my affairs. There is no God except Thee.
Footnote: Abu Bakr (RA) has reported that the Prophet [saw] as saying that whomever is sorrow-stricken and distressed should say this dua'a.
(Sunnan Abu Dawud)

or

Allah is my Lord. I do not ascribe partners to Him.
Footnote: Asma Bint Amis has narrated that the Prophet [saw] asked her: "Should I not tell you words that you may utter in pain and grief?" And then he added "In such a state, you should say this dua'a"
(Sunnan Abu Dawud)

or

There is no God except Thee. Glory be to Thee. Verily I am from those who have wronged themselves.
Footnote: The Prophet [saw] has said: Prophet Yunus while in the stomach of the fish said this dua'a. Any distressed Muslim who utters these words will surely be relieved of his distress. According to another tradition, the Holy Prophet [saw] is reported to have said: "I know of a Kalima which uttered by any afflicted person will surely deliver him from distress. That Kalima is my brother Yunus' suppplication (the same dua'a)"

Prayers for the Continuance of Allah's Blessings:

Allah's will shall be done and there is no power except the one granted by Allah.
Footnote: H. Anas has narrated that the Prophet [saw] said: "If a person upon whom Allah has bestowed some favor in the form of a noble wife and children or wealth or property recited this prayer with a feeling of sincere gratitude; no calamity except death shall befall him."

or

All praise belongs to Allah. It is by His blessings that all noble actions are accomplished.
Footnote: The Prophet [saw] said: "When a person sees something good and delightful, he should say this dua'a."

or

Allah is praised and thanked under all circumstances.
Footnote: The Prophet [saw] said: "When a person sees something bad and disgusting, he should say this dua'a."

I pray to Allah (SWT) that He makes things easy for you and for all of us.

Inshallah, I will try to add to the wonderful advice already given. Anon, don't lose hope, as the Mercy of Allah is unlimited. Seek Allah's Mercy and Help in patience and prayers. Know that the promise of Allah to His servants is true, so never lose focus of this certainty.

This hadith is one of my favoriates. It captures the essence of our worldly life beautifully.

Suhayb bin Sinaan related that the Prophet [saw] said:
Wonderful is the case of a believer - there is good for him in everything, and this is only for the believer. If he experiences a blessing, he is grateful to Allah - which is good for him; and if he experiences an adversity, he is patient - which is also good for him. (Muslim)

The hopes we have are mostly related to worldly matters. Try to detach yourself from them, just a little bit. Don't be hasty, develop a lowly-spirit and humble yourself. Read the Quran and reflect on it, What does it say?

A.L.M.This is the Book; in it is guidance sure, without doubt, to those who fear Allah; Who believe in the Unseen, are steadfast in prayer, and spend out of what We have provided for them; (2:1-3)

Be sure we shall test you with something of fear and hunger, some loss in goods or lives or the fruits (of your toil), but give glad tidings to those who patiently persevere, Who say, when afflicted with calamity: "To Allah We belong, and to Him is our return":- They are those on whom (Descend) blessings from Allah, and Mercy, and they are the ones that receive guidance. (2:155-157)

...seek (Allah's) help with patient perseverance and prayer: It is indeed hard, except to those who bring a lowly spirit,- (2:45)

You will find immense comfort in it, from practical advise to spiritual nourishment. And what else does it say?

And be steadfast in patience; for verily Allah will not suffer the reward of the righteous to perish. (11;115)

Indeed the promise of Allah is true. May Allah swt make it easy for you. Try to maintain a sincere connection with your Lord. Increase your knowledge, be with pious people, make dua, pray, etc, do something productive.

Wasalaam.
