Assalam 'alaykum:
I have a friend who is to getting married to this brother in about 6
months. she has to been a Muslim for about 10 years now. Prior to her
Islam, she had problems with drugs ( as I was informed not too long
ago)since she became a Muslim she has been clean from all that(drug free).
Now the person who told me about her drug problems in the past is
concerned about him going back to some time for some reasons. So he wants
this sister to let her fiance now about this because she hasn't said
anything to him about it yet.
He asked me for my advice and I decided to ask the people of Medina.

Can anyone offer any advice.

Unless I am reading this wrong and I did read it twice.

Personally, I would tell him it was 10 yrs ago and to mind his own business. He had no business even telling you.

Once I told him to mind his own business and that past was past it was a decade ago, then I would go to the sister and tell her that this was brought to my attention and advise her if she hadn't already she may want to talk to her fiance' cause with people who pass on the past, her fiance will most likely prefer to hear it from her than another. Please reassure her you will mind your own business but wanted her to know the subject has come up. Reassure her that the past IS the past.

Once you have given this advise it is then up to her and I hope you too will mind your own business.

No offense meant and I do not mean to sound rude but I too have a past and I get so tired of people trying to play the morals police. Especially from years back.

I could see if this was recently. And even then it is between her and her fiance and maybe close immediate family. But my goodness 10 yrs??????????
You would think people had better things to do with their time than to drum up old stuff.

As salmu alaykum,

As soon as she became a Muslim Allah (swt) forgave her for her sins, so why shouldn't we? I personally don't understand what the big deal is and why other Muslims are being judgemental.  Islamically she is under no obligation to discuss this with her future husband.

As salamu alaykum

Well said Cara! I would tell him to mind his own business too as well, except i probably wouldn't be that nice.
