The Color of the Cosmos

As Salamu Alaykum,

So NASA had to spend billions of dollars, and Unbelievers had to wait thousands of years, but we Muslims knew all along.

Volume 4, Book 54, Number 456:
Narrated Abdullah:

Regarding the Verse: "Indeed he (Muhammad) did see. Of the Signs of his Lord, The Greatest!" (53.18) That the Prophet had seen A GREEN CARPET SPREAD ALL OVER THE HORIZON OF THE SKY.

Astronomers today have found that the true color of the cosmos is green.  Check out any news site to find this story...

Yet another example of how important it is to obey Allah SWT, and the Messenger, SAWS, and to trust what knowledge has been given to the Muslims via the Quran and Sunnah. Arrogant trnsgressors like to call al-Islam antequated and in need of a modern make-over, but it is all people from all times have to catch up with the Prophet, SAWS, and his Companions, RA.

As Salamu Alaykum,

The sad thing about this is no one else picked up on this.  I have expressed this to other Muslims, and have gotten a reaction like, "okay, so what?"  and then I have told this to non-Muslims, and they are like " WOW, the hadiths are true!!"  It seems symptomatic of a greater issue of the stagnant nature of Muslims scope of advancement in understanding the Quran and Sunnah.  I mean, I know that that's why we have Ulema, and I am not trying to dog them, but fresh, young minds are what are always needed in any discipline, in order to further it.  Its really okay to use science today to confirm what we already know from our faith in the traditions, without relying totally on it for things like, when to pray, when to fast, why to do or not do certain things.  Of course it is good enough that Allah SWT and the Messenger, SAWS, encourage or prohibit something, to guide us in our lives, but revamping my committment are signs like these that come along and strengthen my resolve.

I also had interesting insight into some Surat about a year ago.  I may have expressed them here, but probably met with the same reaction I have met with everywhere, except with my wife, who respects my insight and interpretation of matters relating to deen.  In Surah Kawthar, there are 3 ayat in it.  The first of which, "Inna a'tainkal Kawthar..."  Surely We provided for you (Muhammed, SAWS) (from) the Kawthar.  This first ayah is best in positions attainable by humankind: to be the ones accepting from the Prophet, SAWS, a drink from the fountain in Jannah.  The next ayah, says: "Fa salili Rabbika wanhar" So we should offer to the creator, worship and sacrifice.  This being the second best attainable position of those whose sacrifice and worship are accepted, and they are admitted to Jannah, perhaps without the benefit of joining those at the Kawthar or other perks.  The third ayah says: " Inna shani'aka huwal abtar"  Surely our haters are the ones who are cut off.  The third position attainable of course is no attainment at all but rather one of being the losers, in Jahannum.  So I saw that within this tiny surah, which I believe enjoyed a special status as originating under the throne of Allah SWT, contained the 'map' of the akhira in its 3 tiers of status, those with closeness to the Prophet, SAWS, or special rewards and abundance, those who simply were admitted to Jannah, and those who are relegated to the Hell-fire.

I believe that this 3-tiered nature is reflected also in al-Ar'af, or the Heights, where in this surah is mention of those who are admitted to Jannah, those who are waiting for possible admittance, but given a chance to see where they would have gone in Jahannum if they had not straigtened out, and those in Jahannum.

Anyway, some people looked at me, when I related this inspired view of Surah Kawthar, and were like, "Whoa, bro!"  Watch what you say, you cannot add anything to this.  And I am thinking, wait a minute.  Did the study of al-Islam and what can be found in the Quran as far as meaning and wisdom, just all of a sudden bottleneck in a certain century, or only with people who spent every waking moment studying it?  If by taking too great a liberty with understanding Surah Kawthar, or by recognizing the significance of the astronomical find and its relationship with the hadith, I have taken an unnecessary risk of destroying authentic tafsir or compromising my credibility, then please fairly warn me as you all have done in the past and I will keep those kinds of comments to myself (and my wife).

[slm],

Dear brother Qamar, I suggest that when you read the Qur'an you keep a notebook specifically designated to such insights/thoughts/reactions you get from reading the ayat. It should be interesting and even more insightful experience to reference them when you are reading the Quran a second, third or fourth time.

Assalamualaikum,

At one point of my life, I think when I was doing my A- level, I became detached from the Qu'ran. I read the Qu'ran but it didn't appeal to me anymore. Dangerous questions and thought were going through my mind at those time. Is Qu'ran just to be read during the time we're sad ? Or when we need some guidance in our choice of husband?? Oh yeah, I know it has everything from Science to Politics and Laws . But nothing at that time could actually bring me back to the Qu'ran on a deeper level, where I 'd be excited and touched when I read it. Don't get me wrong, I didn't put aside the Qu'ran from my life. I just continue reading, and also making du'a to make my heart attached to the Qu'ran again. Before that, whenever I found some cool verses that touched my heart, I'd be jumping around and showing it to my friends who couldn't understand why i was so excited. And I couldn't understand why they didn't share my passion in Qu'ran. These are people who actually went to Islamic school unlike me who went part of my school time in a former convent.

So, I continued my life, studying. Alhamdulillah, for surely Allah's way is great and mysterious. I was at the end of my A Level and we had a choice on either doing Materials or Particle Physics, I chose the later.  I made the right choice (though  i flunk the paper lol) .
This is what attracts me. It might be different from the real meaning, wallahu'alam. But this is the verse that brought me back to the sweeteness of Qu'ran :-

024.035 God is the Light of the heavens and the earth. The Parable of His Light is as if there were a Niche and within it a Lamp: the Lamp enclosed in Glass: the glass as it were a brilliant star: Lit from a blessed Tree, an Olive, neither of the east nor of the west, whose oil is well-nigh luminous, though fire scarce touched it: Light upon Light! God doth guide whom He will to His Light: God doth set forth Parables for men: and God doth know all things.

To explain it is rather complicated and I am not a scholar/student of the Qu'ran and I fear that in trying to continue this, I'd ended up giving my own interpretation of the Qu'ran. But just sharing my experience on how I was brought back to Qu'ran :) .

BTW, expect me to post in old threads cause I have finally done my interview and it means I'm no longer having anxiety attacks or panics ;) . I read the board everyday but never had time to reply as I take a very long time to formulate my opinions/answers.

Only Allah knows best, and to Him we should seek answers and protection. May Allah forgives me if I've mentioned anything that will only cause fitna or displeasure among the Ummah . I am sorry if I don't make any sense.

Wassalam
