Cyber Dawa Coalition

Assalaamu-alaikum Warahmatulaahi Vabarakaatuhu

You know how we have groups who go to mosques, halls, conferences to give dawa? And how they are so successful? Well why not form a cyber Dawa coalition, group, so that we can go as a group to other Non Islaamic message boards and give dawa?

With the current world situation, this is a golden oppurtunity for us to have a massive impact on the non-muslims.

In the real world (non-cyber), if a single person went and gave a talk outside a pub, or in a shopping centre, they would largly be ignored, however if it was a group, poeple would pay more attention and listen. Also if it was a group, it would gain more respect from the public and they would not be thinking the same as they would towards a single caller i.e. "whoa!! look at that looney arab shouting and wailing, lets get outta here before he goes crazy"!!!

Nope, they would be thinking, "what are all them muslims talking about, why is thier a group of people standing thier, why is a small crowd gathering around them, lets go over and see"!!

Or of course it could all backfire and they would be like "Yikes, theirs a big group of fundamentalist loonies, lets get outta here before they ALL go crazy!!!"

Anyway my point was i think we should form a small cyber dawa group, from this board, and others, made up of different muslims, young, old, reverts, westerners, easterners. How we go about choosing members is not an issue as all are welcome to join, as long as they agree follow the rules of the group, which we would decide once the group was formed.

But before we would go to other boards and give dawa, we would have to discuss amongst ourselves how we will go about it, and what to do if different situations arise.

Just imagine how it would impact the non muslims if all of a sudden they saw muslims appaear on their boards, giving knowledge of islaam, explaining and teaching, and all the muslims getting on well with each other, AND the non-muslims. That would impress a LOT of poeple, and will get a lot interested to islaam.

Of course if we disagree with each other on a certain issue, we do NOT discuss the disagreements on the others boards, instead we deal with it the civilised way and beat each other up over Instant Message, and sort out our differences that way!

So what do you guys think? Would anyone be interested?

Internet watching is a tedious job as cyberspace is just as huge as outerspace ;) However, what u are suggesting is not impossible. Instead of starting of by preaching, we can start off by correcting mistaken or false statements and claims abt Islam. We can do this by checking out which religious sites are the highest hit and check out their stance on Islam. Members of the da'wah group must first agree on the reply before member can post.  There can also be a da'wah group for printed media especially popular and biased papers. Efforts must be regular and synchronised.

Wallahualam.

Masha Allah, I think it is a wonderful idea, :) but as Sr. Solehah mentioned "Internet watching is a tedious job as cyberspace is just as huge as outerspace".

What about a Media Watch group.  You know with all the propoganda out there, the false accusations are discussed amongst ourselves and not always publicised in the medium majority of the world still uses : radios and print media.  Not all of the world has caught up with the self-professed "first world" counties in terms of technology, yet.  So cyber dawah, is a good idea, in fact outstanding, but may not reach as many people as it should, especially at grass roots level. :)

Besides, those commenting on the web forums get their views and outlook from the bias propgated in the media.

So let's get to the source of the mis-information :)

<Masha Allah, I think it is a wonderful idea>

It is, but people dont seem to interested! This would be such a good way to give Dawa :)

<but as Sr. Solehah mentioned "Internet watching is a tedious job as cyberspace is just as huge as outerspace".>

Thats why my idea was to go only to the most popular new site forums, such as the BBC etc, the major places.

<What about a Media Watch group.>

We could form one, but again we would need a lot of interest from potential members.

<So cyber dawah, is a good idea, in fact outstanding, but may not reach as many people as it should>

That is a valid point, but the cyber world is an open target for us, we are on the cyber world, and we have plenty of places where we could give Dawa!

For exapmple yesterday on the BBC asianlife forums, i just read what they were discussing, and thier were 3 kaafirs dissing shariah law, giving completely misguided views on punihsments for adultery etc, and knowone challegened them! I was thinking, if the Madinat Gang were here, would could set a few things straight!

<So let's get to the source of the mis-information>

Lets get to the hearts and minds of these poeple :)

[bsm], lets start right there :) -  Can you get a transcript of the program perhaps...or maybe someone taped it?

It would be an idea to list down all the incorrcet, misguided and wrong views of that particular show on this board...and see how the members respond.

What about getting contact details of the studio that aired the program, and we all send them letters stating our disapproval of their program content.  Then request a chance to refute, challenge or correct the views of those that were on the panel, subject to receiving a written transcript.

It's a start, Insha Allah

Assalaamu-alaikum Rehana!

<Can you get a transcript of the program perhaps...or maybe someone taped it?>

It was on the internet, on a discussion board!

The board is www.bbc.co.uk/asianlife

Then go to the mesage boards, register, give a valid email address, they will send you an email, you respond to it, and WALA! Its controlled and they have good mods, so they make sure things dont turn too nastey.

The message board this was dicsussed on was the Right here write now topic!

EVERYONE! I think we should go over and sort em out!

Hania, you bring the metal bars ;)
